LeBron does not have the grit or grind to compete against a guy like Larry. Half hearted play, flopping, excuse making and teammate blaming was NEVER part of Bird’s game.

@bryanfox6726 ~ If he would pick Bird to save his life, he obviously has more faith in the fact that Byrd would make the shot, why would he choose the man he has less faith in to make that shot in a ballgame, especially that being the master clutch shooter Bird was, which is precisely why Riley would pick Byrd to save his life?

Michael Cooper said the same thing as Worthy about guarding Bird. He said between Bird and Jordan, Bird was the harder player to guard because when Bird passed the ball you couldn't stop guarding him, whereas without the ball Jordan was pretty much out of the play. Coop said Bird was actually more dangerous WITHOUT the ball. Something else Worthy said was that Jordan made you look slow. Larry made you look stupid.
@ivanc8390
@ivanc8390 14 күн бұрын
@@toddfrank3344 the thing is those players are talking from the context that MJ didn’t have the quality teammates Bird had to begin with and to help him be more dangerous because even when he’d give them dimes to score their was a high probability of them missing the shots. Also MJ was the only one that could create his own shot. One great player can’t beat a team like the Celtics with Bird as their leader and that’s the same thing vs Isaiah and The bad boys. Pippen was scared of the Pistons they punked his @ss.

@@toddfrank3344 again if have to apply context. You go back to the Olympics that MJ was fresh out of college with a slew of great college players by his side MJ and the Olympic squad dominated the NBA players 8-0 during the exhibition games. I’m not glazing Jordan because I hated that MFer as a Knicks fan and later as a Heat fan. Even Bird compared MJ to GOD. A lot of those older players refused to give MJ his due credit for whatever reason. Last thing who else on that CoCane Bulls team was going to create for MJ or give him some dimes? That Celtics teams concept was to pass. That Lakers team concept with Magic was to pass and they were great at it. Unfortunately MJ didn’t have that is what I’m saying.

You are the best I have seen reacting to Larry because it is also obvious that you do know about basketball. You can't compare any other player to Bird. He was a unicorn! He did it all. Great shooter from anywhere, he rebounded like a center. His defense was unrated, and he is the greatest passing big man of all time. Plus he is the smartest most clutch player to ever play! But the most important attribute that people overlook is, Bird worked harder and his desire to WiILL his team to win was unmatched. He never quit. I'm from Cleveland and I'm grateful to Lebron for the Championship he helped bring to the Cavs. I can't give the goat title to him, in my opinion players that jump from team to team like KD and Lebron as well as others to form super teams in order to win titles can't be considered the goat. Can you imagine how many titles would have been won if MJ, Bird and Magic would have formed a super team. Old School BB was about Competition, the players thought process was I want to Beat the best not join them. It was about Team Accomplishments and the players using the whole court oh and a 2-point shot was not a dirty word. vs New school BB which is camaraderie, 3-point shots, individual accomplishments. and very little defense.

When Larry blew his nose, the eye bulged out enough so he could see his other eye. 👀 He just guessed at which of the two baskets he was seeing to aim for. The guy never took a shot or painkiller in those situations. Once, the doctor has to cut about 2" between his big toe and the next one to drain an abscess. He wouldn't accept anything but a beer. Great reaction, man! New subs here! Hey, that accolade resumee was SHORT..! 😅 Anyway, keep this in mind: Larry Legend wasn't ONLY three times MVP... He was 4th in the MVP run in 1980, 2nd in 1981, 1982 & 1983, 1st on 1984, 1985 & 1986, and 2nd 1987 & 1988... The Bird wad DOMINANT the freakin' entire decade..! He is the ONLY ONE IN NBA HISTORY to be "Rookie of the Year" (1980), "MVP" (1984, 1985, 1986), "Finals MVP" (1984, 1986), "All-Star MVP" (1982), "Coach of the Year" (1998), and "Executive of the Year" (2012). The man was winner in all sides of basketball...

Larry taught MikeJ the biggest lesson that it's a team sport. Mike had a crazy series against the Celtics in the playoffs yet the Celtics beat the Bulls 4-1. Larry didn't care for personal stat padding. He lived and I think wanted every game to come down to the last shot to win a game. I don't think I can name another player like that.

Biggest difference between Bird and LBJ? Bird took his team from nothing to greatness. LBJ had to create an all-star team by changing teams (all the time making himself the focus of "the Decision"). Ego does not make you the greatest unless you can back it up. Bird knew the game was bigger than he was. LBJ thinks he IS the game.

I once heard it said that the difference between Larry and Magic was that Larry made the difficult look easy, almost routine, and Magic made the routine look spectacular and difficult.

I suscribed. Best Bird reaction I have seen in a long time. I played div 2 and 3 ball. Good to listen to someone who has game playin' knowledge, and sees how impossible his game play is to duplicate. Then, you add that he was doing it against all the great defenders, doing it with season ending injuries, without the weapons his rivals had, TELLING THE OTHER TEAM THE PLAY, calling his shots on the defensive end, making the clutch shots, setting up the last 3 point contest so he could win it with the last shot, playing in an era of physicality, and being white in a league dominated by almost entirely black league. He is Legendary. Lol, and I hated him because he would always beat my favorite players. Well, now he is my fav. The GOAT

I think I've said this on your site before but LaBron has said in an interview when asked about Larry Bird, he said he's watched Bird videos for a long time, based his own game playing on Bird. This short interview is on one of LB's videos, can't remember which one. He said some really great things about Bird. Keep watching Bird's videos, maybe you'll come across it. Love your reactions, great job Sir!!!!!

the more you learn, the higher Bird is going to climb on your list. That game where he scored 60 against Atlanta......what you probably don't know is that just a couple of weeks earlier he fed McHale all night helped him set a team record of 54 points, but he told McHale don't expect hat record to last. He dominated the Hawks not just to win.... but to beat THAT record. You probably haven't learned about his back injury he got yet, while shoveling gravel for his mom's driveway. He had to lay on the court sidelines when he was out many times, because it was too painful to sit upright on the bench. I really appreciate your take on what you are seeing, you HAVE to watch the greatest passer re-edit now and he will climb even higher on your list

That was a nice honest assessment of the facts when they were presented to you young man, I'm impressed but to add to L. The celtics had won 32 games in 29 games before Larry got there, Larry turned them into a 61 win team. Largest turnaround in NBA history at the time. The next year, they just picked up Parish as a rookie and Kevin McHale was still coming off the bench and he won the NBA Championship. Lebron took a decade to get his first chip with a well seasoned Miami team. Defense? Larry led the entire NBA in Defensive Win Shares 4 years and was second twice! So yeah, he was also an elite defender, Even if he didn't chase a six foot guard around the court..

🤙🏼 This is by far the absolute best reaction to this video, and I've watched many of them. I won't ramble on and on about my thoughts because you've covered most of them yourself. I'll just say that I started following the NBA in the 60s and have continued to follow the game. Throughout all the years, I've determined that there will never be a single player who can truly be the greatest of all time. As rules, medical advancements and conditioning practices have advanced or changed, there will be a few "greats" every generation or so.

I love magic and birds friendship and rivalry in their era. Can you imagine if social media, youtube and sports channels existed back then as they do today? Also with how big the NBA is today. If they had that back then they would have drawn in so many more fans and probably made 1000x the money they did back then.
