Wes Studi was amazing, just amazing here as Magua. If anything I remember him and his acting over all the others, his is one of the best acting of all time. He should have 100% won an Oscar for this role. I loved his explanation of Magua too, how he didn't act him as a 'villian' it's all perspective and that's life.

This movie is a masterpiece and a thrilling American epic set during the french and Indian war which is a fascinating conflict in and of itself. The soundtrack and scenery were great, the battle sequences were heart pounding , the acting was superb.

It didn't get the credit at the Academy Awards it clearly deserved, should have at least been nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay- clearly a far better film than Enchanted April and I would argue superior to A Few Good Men and Scent of a Woman, both nominated for best film.

I agree--what I liked was that the American Indian figures were not stereotyped but portrayed as people of the land who were fighting for their own rights and beliefs and who were more intelligent than they were perceived to be by the British element

Madeline Stowe is so beautiful! This is my favorite movie of all-time! It is so realistic they did an awesome job in making this as real as possible! My heart still jumps in my chest when they are in the valley and the Indians attack! Thank you, Micheal Mann, for making this classic a classic again for all time! The soundtrack really made this movie what it is without it. It would not be the same movie so glad it won so many awards!

What an amazing movie. I love the passion he has for Cora. An alpha male that reaches every woman watching this movie. Wes Studi is a great actor but terrified me in this character. There is a one minute segment at 47:30 that epitomizes the intersection of DDL and MM's attention to detail: when hawkeye and usus cover the escaping messenger from the fort. the combination of DDL obvious muscle memory to reload and aim the musket and reach for a reloaded one as the soldier runs through the shaded nighttime woods still gives me chills every time i watch it. smh truly amazing movie.
@KathyCouserJoyM
@KathyCouserJoyM 5 жыл бұрын
@ 5:30 the scene between Hawkeye and Cora was so intense and so real. The Kind of love scene women desire the "love of their lives to exhibit " in their defense if ever the case presented itself. You could feel the love and the strength in each of them. Hawkeye gave Cora strength to become even more of who she was, "You stay alive...you submit...I will find you... You're strong... You submit... I will find you...no matter how long...no matter how far... I will find you." Those words gave me what I needed, when I was going through something similar, and to this day I believe those words and how they were played out between them two really stuck with me. And taking this on a spiritual plain, this somehow is what the LORD is asking of all his Children, even though satan takes you through a hard and many difficult times in our lives. But if we stay true, to JESUS CHRIST, HE WILL FIND YOU... if you submit and obey His Will and Know His Purpose for our lives. HE will Come for us if we hold on and stay true to His Plan. He will shelter us always in the time of a storm!! Cora and Hawkeye! I loved their Love Story and their strength together! Add GOD's Son to that equation and "Many waters …. remember cannot drown LOVE!!!

This is my favorite movie. Period. The musical score is as integral as the amazing acting. It’s a wonderful modernized version of James Fenimore Cooper’s classic book. I don’t have a favorite scene, there are too many incredible moments in the film. And at the very end, Chingachgook’s words are the perfect way to end the movie. (In the original film release version. They botched the end in the directors cut IMO).

Russell Means as Chingachgook and Eric Schweig as Uncas, both divine. Daniel Day Lewis always sublime. And Madeline Stowe, Cora and Jodhi May as her sister Alice, both goddesses. The music exquisite. 💔 Some of the best movies were made in the 80's & 90's. Mohicans Dances With Wolves, with Wes Studi in this as well. Yes, a continent's human population and way of life was wiped away as it was known in the Pre-Columbian Era. If you lived in that time, you truly lived.

@@jamesbreeden3061 By the time of European colonization of what would become the East Coast- roughly a hundred years before the events of Last of the Mohicans- 90% of the native population was wiped out by European diseases. The pristine, nearly empty pastoral Paradise the English, Dutch, Spanish "discovered" was in reality a post-Apocalypse land. Conquest of the Americas was relatively simple by the 18th century.

I attribute this film as my first where every character, without exception, demonstrates personal integrity and noble intentions. Still on the lookout for my second.
