Picking up a set of Verus Engineering Hood Vents and installing them on the Mk7 GTI! I have always loved the look of hood vents on cars, especially when they're functional. With these, the Mk7 GTI is looking insanely aggressive now.

I was literally just about to buy some universal vents to do this a couple days ago. Didn’t know Verus made GTI specific ones until i randomly stumbled across your channel. Glad I didn’t pull the trigger on those universals lol

@@ColoredinLight forgot to ask, I’m assuming the hood insulation had to stay off? Noticed any measurable difference in engine noise from the cabin?

@@GolfCoyote I'm sure you could cut it to fit it back on but I left it off. The intake and turbo noises are much louder which is fun.

Really dig this mod dude.. Your GTI build is inspiring. Curious to see what your wheel setup is gonna be.. I've been considering these for my reflex silver mk7: Enkei RPF1's, Konig Ampliforms or Rennforms, Apex SM-10, 034Motorsport ZTF-01

HAVE YOU NOTICED any cooling difference with the rain trays on vs off. When i messaged them awhile back they told me with the rain try it wouldn't do much to help cooling

I'm sure with rain trays there is less air evacuation. Without rain trays, I can see the heat waves exiting the hood when stopped.

I'm on a 2015 GTD with a remap and keep struggling with oil temps and general heat soak from the extreme exhaust temps. I wonder if that's at least partially help

Hmm I would definitely start with looking at an oil cooler upgrade before cutting your car up. It's not reversible!

@@ColoredinLight as stupid as it sounds, I trust myself more with cutting that metal open than to fiddle with the oil system even though the cooler would be more effective. There's a lot of pro and contra regarding the oil in 2.0 TDIs. With a cooler it takes longer to heat up as most oil coolers bolt on instead of the heat exchanger (water/oil), also I'm a little worried about the oil pressure dropping.
