Seems like needing a helper to remove the hood, but needing only yourself to reinstall the new one tells the whole story there, weight-wise. I’m generally not a big carbon guy, but this actually looks REALLY tasteful. Another great vid, CPO! 👍

This video was a huge, huge, huge help. For those without friends(lol), a good way to remove the stock hood is to put your head in the center of the bottom of the hood after the bolts have been loosened(the front ones) and removed(the back ones). Then, grasping both sides of the hood, tilt it up and out of the bracket holes. Gives you really good control. Height MAY be a factor here. For reference, I am 6'3". Not very strong though, so I don't think strength is really a limiting factor here. Don't underestimate the time it may take you to align it though. Took me about 2 hours start to finish and MOST of that was spent aligning.

Thanks for posting this, man. I got a carbon hood for my Mk8 GTI but was unsure about the washer nozzles and its loom. You described that and everything else perfectly. 🍻

Did you mention weight savings? Might need to on my black 7.5 was looking OEM hood is ~40 lbs and idk what the weight for your hood is? I need someone to retro fit carbon recessed louvers in the front quarter panels like the GT4 RS 🙌😎🙌

I have a question for you about your PDC hood delivery packaging. My hood should be here on Monday. My buddy just got his and he noticed that the packaging says Made in China everywhere and is very similar to Ali packaging. Any thoughts on this considering it originated in Malaysia?

Looks great bro. Having one of only three is pretty impressive. Just 1 question. On the original hood I noticed you didn't have any insulation. Did you notice any paint discoloration or bubbles from heat without the insulation? Just wondering. Thanks for your time.

Never had any issues without the insulation. In fact a lot of the GTIs didn’t even come with it. ;-)

With that hood it isn't functionally venting out of the center and sides, right? Doesn't look to be cutout from the underside to exhaust the radiator/IC or the low pressure areas on the left/right.

There is a functional hole over the turbo area that does vent out… but there aren’t functional side vents on the underside of the hood though.

They say 60%. I didn’t weight it but is noticeably lighter.
