Just get a comparator, turn the little thingy on and have redstone go into the comparator then turn and go to the side of the comparator, then activate it. The best part is that it's compact and can be turned on or off easily

I made this too, hooked one observer up to my melon farm and attached it to a daylight sensor that deactivates the automatic piston farm during nighttime since melons wont grow at night, and so my character can sleep peacefully at night and eat endless melons during the day lol

The same probability of getting any sequence of 4 specific methods though, so no more surprising than had it been water, left piston, lava, anvil (for example), 4 water just seems more significant.

@@fablungo Yes, but that's not how probability works, if you take a stack of cards that has 8 cards in the stack, none of which are a duplicate, and pull a card then put it back, and repeat that 4 times, there would be 4096 different combinations from it and getting, say, the 3 of hearts 4 times would be one of the 4096 possibilities.

It's actually pretty simple. I know I'm 8 months late, but droppers randomly dispense items from any of their 9 slots. If you had 8 slots filled with coal, and 1 with diamonds, you would have a 1/9 chance of getting diamonds. You combine this with hoppers and comparators. You want the dropper to have two items in it. One that can be stacked, and one that can't. When the dropper randomly shoots out one of these into your hopper, the comparator will either draw out a weak redstone signal that can only travel one block before needing a repeater (the stackable item) or a slightly stronger signal (the item that isn't stackable). This is where you can split your redstone into two different paths. I'm not very good at redstone so I can't explain the rest, but that's the main logic behind it and how you can get randomized outputs.

Actually, it is technically a 1 in 256 chance of him getting an option 4 times in a row because it could be anything and he would be excited,

actually the mistake @The destroyer 94 made was thinking this as 2^8 it's (2^3) for 8 different total states and ^4 for the 4 outcomes he got in a row so basically it's 8^4 which totals a 1 in 4096 chance for him to get the same state 4 times in a row
