This is quite helpful - 8 years old as of now but still extremely relevant. My add-on question is -- since this video, adobe added Team Projects. I use a Team Project that stores media in creative cloud file sync so both team members can access, edit and collaborate on sequences (yes, Adobe has announced end of life for CC sync, but beside the point). With Team Projects, I don't have a "save a copy" or a local file. What I'd love to be able to do is have the team member A who just needs to edit things but not render (he doesn't have a powerful video card) be able to put a sequence in a watch folder for a team member B who DOES have a good video card. So far, all we've been able to figure out is Team Member A finished changes, updates team project, sends a message to Team Member B to open the desired sequence and send to AME.

Thank you! Your guide was very helpful, I had no idea this was even a feature. I'm using 2 PC's, one to edit, and one to render. I was able to use a network drive as my watch/output folder. Set it as my google drive as well so completed projects get uploaded to the cloud for backup and easy sharing with clients. This will speed up my work flow and automate the proccess

Great video! Curious, is there a way to set up custom destinations under the "Publish" option? Also, i'm guessing AME needs to be open in order for the watch folder workflows to work? Because I've worked with large enterprise systems that run watchfolders in the background. Would love this to work for my personal set up

Unfortunately no, Adobe has to write the code for that.

VERY useful video. Is there a way to encode a file this way and to publish it to different FTP servers avoiding AME to repeat the encoding process? I mean: I need to encode a file and then publish to many FTP servers. What I need is that AME doesn't do many processing tasks, but several publishing ones :) Thanks in advance!
@VideoRevealed5 жыл бұрын
No, you can't publish to multiple FTP sites, but I bet you could setup something in Filezillla.

Is there a way to customize where the source file gets moved after it's picked up inside of a watch folder? I'm not a fan of AME creating a folder called Source and then another dated folder with the file in it. I'd rather customize that workflow so it will archive it to a custom location. Great video walk through!
@VideoRevealed6 жыл бұрын
You can't define a custom location for the Source folder.

If I'm dragging a premiere project into my watch folder, is it possible to have the watch folder preset only export what is in the Sequence In/Out or the work area. This is an option I have when sending from Premiere to Media Encoder. However, I can't find a way to set this as a part of my watch folder preset. It keeps including the black area I have before my work area in the export. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Fantastic video, I have a big problem: I'm rendering with another PC through Google Drive. A bot automatically send the files with project manager to a folder that is watched. The problem is that I need only the primary sequence, I don't want to render single videos ore other sequences. Also If I move only the project to the watched folder it will render also nested sequences. This is a really big problem because I set the folder watched to upload on youtube, in this way it will upload more videos with no content.
@VideoRevealed4 жыл бұрын
There are no other options to control which Sequences are rendered.

Hello, really interesting! After creating my watch folder on multiple computers, I'm now placing one .prproj file in there, and nothing seems to happen. My .prproj does have multiple sequences but there is only one that is outside the bin and at the first level of the hierarchy. Is there something that I missed? Thank you.
@VideoRevealed5 жыл бұрын
In Media Encoder preferences> General make sure you have Start queue checked and also Import sequences natively. And make sure you're running all the latest versions of Creative Cloud.

Sometimes when I render through Adobe media encoder it doesn't match. It renders out the lower thirds with the default font, audio levels are jumping and some effects don´t work properly. But when I export it directly in Premiere everything is ok, any solution on this?
@VideoRevealed5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like missing fonts. Media Encoder does not have the ability to fix that so you have to make sure the fonts are working in the Project in Premiere Pro first. If the fonts are there in Premiere Pro and not in Media Encoder, I have no idea why that would be happening. Sorry.
@harmadikszem6 жыл бұрын
and what if it is network rendering? do i need to give access or something to the second pc that only runs adobe media encoder and has a watchfolder? or i just need to save the projectfile itself to the watchfolder and AME does the rest
@VideoRevealed6 жыл бұрын
Media Encoder is a desktop application, so it's not really network rendering meaning it doesn't use distributed rendering. You can run Media Encoder on a computer and if you share the Watched Folder directory with a user on the network, then they can add files to it to trigger the render. You need to check the User License Agreement to see what is needed to share Media Encoder (if it's connected to a company network).

@VideoRevealed5 жыл бұрын
No. You'd have to manually upload using a browser.

Hi! Is it possible to conform a slowmo footage to lets say 25fps with Media Encoder? Instead of doing it one by one in Premiere... Because so far it does convert to 25fps without any change in the motion.
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about Right-clicking and choosing Modify> Interpret Footage then changing it to the same frame rate as the Timeline, then you must do this inside Premiere Pro because it's the only way you can interpret the footage.
@FroggyVids7 жыл бұрын
Yes i am. Too bad this option doesn't exist.
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
Well, where would you store the Metadata for each clip? In the clip? If so, then what happens when you want to use the clip with the original frame rate, would changing it in one place change it everywhere? If not, how do you store different frame rates? Do you have to have Projects in Media Encoder? How would that affect using the clip in After Effects? A seemingly small change can have a huge ripple effect throughout the editing chain.

I've noticed when using Watch Folder that the Closed Captions do not get included in the new file, even though the preset has it included. Any suggestions?
@VideoRevealed5 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming there's a CC track in each Sequence being exported? If so, I can't think of why this is happening so it's either not designed that way or it's a bug. Sorry.
@vickiesterling87875 жыл бұрын
Yes. The master file has captions but CC does not go with to the new file even though the presets have the captions set to embedded. Maybe that's a bug Encoder can look at fixing?
@VideoRevealed5 жыл бұрын
Yikes, it looks like AME has many issues around CC. forums.adobe.com/thread/2238775?start=120&tstart=0 You should log it as a bug here: www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

For some reason my AME keeps files in the Watch folder after encoding. Source and Output folders work fine though

Wow, I actually think there is no option to delete the source. Cool example of the mandela effect as other people also thought that this exists in AME. I clicked and checked everywhere and I can't find it.
@codyice6 жыл бұрын
I found something close to it in the "Publish" tab of the export settings, when creating a file from the source to publish (say a vimeo mp4 from a prores), you can delete the mp4 after it uploads. But of course you were referring to the source (the prores in the example.)
