I am glad the videos are still available for people in United States to watch. Great content.

Holy Smokes! Dean Collins! Haven't heard that name in decades. Did a couple of seminars (you know, a webinar, only in person) with him decades ago. I started using a humongous diffuser made of pvc pipe and a white bed sheet as a fill light way before the term scrim made it's way out of Hollywood and into the photography world. Dean Collins- that tells you how long I've been in photography, Tony, and I am still learning stuff. Thanks for this, and all your other vids. I've been feathering lights for years, but never ever thought to feather one UP! Thanks.

Same meter I have. Works very well. I don't know what camera brand you use, but if I use back button focus and reframe the focus changes when I push the shutter button. And, I don't like having to use two buttons. One is enough to deal with. Accordingly, I never use back button focus.

I love this series of video's. Usefull information and both Tony and Joe are very sympatethic presenters. Beautifull models as well. This last aspect is a problem for me though. they all have perfect skin and are really pretty and slim. I'd like some more video's about photographing regular people who have wrinkels, are maybe slightly overweight etc etc. I bet that would be really helpfull to learn to light regular people. Thanks for posting these tutorials! Greets Steven (The Netherlands)

Hello Tony . I give much thought to what I am doing , to my light and use bowens I also consider the use of Bowens cheaper yet powerful units , how to get the 400 watt second super close with ISO 50 at only 1/32 and pushing there limits out doors in the sun using 2 into a brolly when having to use nd filters if I need my aperture up a bit . There could be more use made of the potential of the 400rx soft box kit as follows .. take the outside diffuser panel off but leave the interior ones on , place one on a boom arm 45 degrees off cam and 45 degrees tilt and the other under it at 45 degrees off cam , now for the model , full length shot in a long glam dress , head nose and eyes pointing to the main lights , body off axis to cam to pick up on the dress and all its high lights with front covers off and all in a simple affordable kit , also I noticed with these kits if you buy one it is like getting so much more for free , back to the simple shot , if more shadow is required to taste then a black panel and to take away then white or silver , easy peasy and a no brainer but must have is a light meter with these units .I am Nikon and Bowens . Allan ...I also advise create the pic in your mind eye , draw it on paper even though you are not an artist and create your vision .

Hello Tony, First of all I want to thank you for all of your incredible videos. I can learn so much of it. But I have one question. At the end of this video you talked about metering the background. when using gels. You said, that you take you take a refektive reading with the Spot-Meter. How do you do this? Or aren't you working with flash in this case? I also use the Sekonic 785 and I can't use the spot-Meter when using flash... Or can I?.. Thank you in advance. Best wishes Thomas

Amazing Tony, but I have a question, at 4:51 for ex. you have the softbox with continuous light but when you shoot there's also a flash/strobe that fire as well, I can't see where is placed......
@Marckymarc716 жыл бұрын
It's the same light
@thethirdman2255 жыл бұрын
If you look at a monolight without any modifiers on it, you will see a central flash tube and a glass tube around the outside of its. That is the modelling light.
