I grew up on a farm, and asked my grandfather about planting trees and them never producing... He told me "at absolute worst I get the shade and the satisfaction of having grown something that will probably out last me" He then pointed out his favorite pear tree and informed me it took 20 years before it started producing fruit, but once it did it was the best darn fruit he'd ever tasted.

I grew a lemon seed and 15 years later it still hasn't produced a lemon. But it's my favorite house plant because it's nice to look at and gives off a nice lemon scent

I feel anytime you can propagate a plant that isn't harmful to any kind of other living thing or the planet you've been successful. Just because it doesn't conform to expectations doesn't make it a failure. In fact, it might turn out to be a "happy accident" and produce a wonderful outcome you never could have anticipated.

Howdyyawl from the land down under. It is possible to get good fruit from a tree grown from seed. It takes pruning & a good source of mulch & a pollination tree like quarver or citrus for pollinators to do their magic & patience. Good luck😊

My mother used to always say to consider the source. This is good. most of the people who tell you it is a waste of time are trying to sell you the fruit or plants and if you grow your own, you will not need to buy form them. one thing though that is true is that a seed will not produce a tree the same as the one the fruit came from. in most cases it might not even be close.

I tried growing cherry from seeds. I scattered them in the boat garden with other seeds (Pelican paddle boat). We planted 5 of them in the ground when they were 2 or 3 years old. The next Spring, 3 of them died. A crazy girl that always watch KZbin on gardening decided to use leaves as a mulch. The leaves rot the trunks. 2 of them manage to survived and now she been fired from taking care of the trees. After years later, those 2 trees turned out to be Asian pears. Good Asian pears.

Your videos helped a lot thanks by the way what helps it give frut is left over of ash. Any type helps. As well as (cal) Called in spanish. Just wet some with water and then put it in the roots of any frut tree that help produce frut.

I'm in Texas, US. The coastal area & I've wanted to grow cherry trees for years!!!! I'm gathering it's something I'd need to buy & plant.... rather than grow a seedling. We are subtropical. What species do you recommend for subtropical climate?

as long as you get a cold winter you will be fine. look for variety's that can deal with the summer heat, you local nursery will have plants in stock probably well suited to your local environment, id start there :-)

Can you add a bag of ice around the tree base daily for 1 month to trick it into chill hours?
@GreenthumbsGarden
@GreenthumbsGarden Жыл бұрын
you can try it and let me know if it works :-) but I don't think so. If you had a very large fridge like a restaurant has, a walk in one, you could place it in side if the tree is kept small enough. Wild cherry trees grow very large so maybe a grafted cherry on a dwarf rootstock would be more ideal for this plan.

Try taking a few out, wrap them in a damp kitchen towel and seal them like the others an leave them in room temp for a week. The warmer temps should trigger them to start growing.

اذا كانت للبرودة شهر كم يوم للدفئ كحد ادنى ؟
@GreenthumbsGarden
