I wanted to order this kit, it's expensive but worth it, but when I saw the shipping to me was 500 bucks, my heart sank. Even if you order the CNC parts and fiberglass parts only, shipping is the same. So I will watch Johnathan and have a vicarious build experience !

@@thelightersideofrc I'm retired in the Philippines, a great place but hard to get the good stuff when you have to order. If I get serious I will email Martin and see if there is another shipping option. I can get the 125" World Models kit shipped from China a lot cheaper, but it's not near the quality.

Oh that's a nice tail section. I try not to over-engineer but I really like when others do. That's how I learn new building techniques. I also made a removable stab, but only because I wanted to change the angle incidence if needed. I just bolt the stab to the fuselage with 2 x 4mm bolts and nuts. But I also put some small pieces ( not too much) of double sided tape so it can not move if I get some slack around the bolts. Before each flying day I check the plane including the horizontal stab, because its one of the few important parts of the plane and because its bolted. I am looking forward to the next building videos.

You should be sanding off the burnt edges of the lumber as the glue bond will be much stronger!! Burnt edges will not allow the glue to penetrate the wood fibers.

Good call Dave! I have been very lightly sanding it but not removing a ton of material to prevent shape change. What your suggesting makes sense.

Jon, any chance of getting a few words about your choice of adhesives and the applications in which you choose to use them, e.g., epoxy, CA, Gorilla Glue, etc.?

You know believe it or not on the much larger Brauer composite P6 they use two wood dowels at the front of the stab and a single bolt down through the stab at the back. plus the lower functional braces. that kit was under engineered to say the least.

@@thelightersideofrc but you added some needed reinforcement to ensure a strong joint. I think it was most necessary to add the dowel in the stab for a drag spar, Carbon tube would be nice nice there, but you're like me, find something in the shop to keep things moving along. really enjoying this build

Haha. Love your comments Phil! Always make me laugh. When I was younger I worked in a bike shop. We had these wheels that had 8 sharp carbon spokes supporting the wheel. Young kids would always come in and spin the crap out of the wheels. And it was legit dangerous. One busy Saturday this kid was spinning the wheels. I walked up and said don’t spin the wheels or this might happen. At that moment I held up my hand 😳 the kid had a sheer look of panic and terror on his face and ran away crying to his parents 😂🤷🏻‍♂️🤓
