Dear Bart, seriously good engineering behind your work. You took four machines and glued them together into one. People such as myself who have small workshops would like to be able to bend steel but the space taken up by one is prohibitive. However, your compact hybrid machine changes all of that. Well done. Love the turquoise paint colour.
@bartharkemametalworks22994 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes it's really a nice combination of (already existing) machines on a small footprint. Would be ideal for every small workshop.

best bender on youtube, this would sell for $4500, you put a lot of thought into this, you should be proud of your work, you did a very good job on this ,its brilliant , thank you for taking the time to post this for us to see .

overly engineered, heavy duty and beautiful build by a highly skilled mechanic with lots of imagination and patience, bravo! Only 1 thing regards the build is that with all those attachments on top and all that manual force you do on top the bench tends to tip on you because is bottom light, be careful not to tip it over on top of you while working because it can hurt you and it looks like a heavy beast. I would suggest down the road bolting it to the floor especially if you have concrete slab floor in your home shop. Amazing craftsmanship dude!
@bartharkemametalworks22995 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and overly engineered is not in my dictionary ;-). You are right about the top weight. But it's more stable than it looks, and I have a lot of weight in the bottom with different die sets in the wooden box. I'm not planning on bolting it down but sometimes i'll clamp it to my welding table. And for many uses the forces stay within the frame itself.

At last a title that actually warrants the use of the word "ultimate"! Just watched all four videos back to back . Brilliant design executed by a true craftsman. Thank you very much for sharing. I will now watch all your videos. PS: I think that before anybody can leave a "thumbs down" they should be required to leave a message explaining why.
@bartharkemametalworks22994 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the nice commend. I though about the title for a long time but decided that is was my ultimate version. Others can add more or go bigger. But this is all I need and a perfect size for me. Enjoy watching the other video's ;-). And I agree about the thumbs down, I would like to know why so I can learn and/or make better video in the future.

Hey Bart ! I've just watched all four of your bending machine videos, back to back and uninterrupted by my children. I need to sing your praises BIG TIME. Your bender is by far the best home-shop build I have ever seen! You are clearly not just a highly skilled and intelligent engineer in a practical sense, but also the way that you think through ideas and solve problem as you go along, is simply wonderful! I also like your video style very much and because of this, you are seriously entertaining. Thank you for the time that you dedicate to this work… and for taking time to share it - you are inspirational. If you are ever in the UK and get up to Southport (it’s not in the South and it’s not a port - go figure!) I’d be proud to buy you a beer. Greetings from Southport UK.

Hi Bart. Wow!! What an amazing project and a stunning piece of engineering. So many ideas in one frame, and i like the twist at the end. Now you'll need to fabricate a bigger workshop for your new toys. And you won't need to go to the gym ever again...a few hours on the bender will do just fine! Thanks for sharing your time and awesome skills. Stay safe and keep up the good work.

@@bartharkemametalworks2299 In my shop i set a plate flush in the floor it is tapped in multiple patters, i can slide any of my tools and fixtures over it and bolt it down for use then move back to storage an example would be my pedestal vise. Likewise i do the same on my welding table where i use trailer hitch receiver tube 2" X 2" id under the bench and create sockets that tools can plug into and use with stability then go back on the storage rack when not in use.

Very Nice, A contrasting colour would look good too. Also with the bending when using the side wheel, maybe a sprocket and chain, so you only have to turn one side. And not go from side to side, which is very inefficient.
@incubatork4 жыл бұрын
Now that you have finished mine when are you starting yours?😆😆😉 on the ring roller adjustment you could put cogs and chain to make them adjust both at the same time. A great build and a great machine to have, not too sure about the colour but its growing on me. Thanks for sharing.
@bartharkemametalworks22994 жыл бұрын
Haha 😆👌. Mine will be ready next year.. I thought about the chain connection but I don't use it so much that it is worth it. About the colour, better get used to it 😉.

You are a genius, especially for someone so young.... What do you do for a living then? I am very curious to know what please.
@bartharkemametalworks22995 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Not so young any more.. (38). Here's some background: I did metal work from a young age with my dad. After that I studied mechanical engineering and worked for 6 years as a instrument specialist in a aerospace center (Wind tunnel at NLR in NL). Then I decided i would love to work with people a little bit more an was already teaching martial arts. I made a switch to become an PE teacher and since 2010 I work at the Hanze University for PE for 3 days a week. My metalwork interest stayed and I decided to pick it up again. Now I work 2 days a week for myself doing metal work, and 3 days as a teacher. My grandfather was a blacksmith so I tought I would be nice to learn that as well. So now I can't decide if I do art-work, blacksmithing, machining or be a welder... ;-). I combine it al together and enjoy working doing it all.

@bartharkemametalworks22994 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I think if your going to use it for industrial use then a motorized bender that is specifically made for the job will be more useful. This is a all-round machine that can do a lot but not really efficient for production.

Great series and fine craftsmanship. A used Hossfeld #2 is still bringing USD600-1000. Are there any plans or can all the dimensions be figured off of the videos? Thanks Barts!!
@bartharkemametalworks22995 жыл бұрын
Thank you. There are no plans but most of the dimensions are given in the video. And if you need some more details about some dimensions than just ask. Btw. the Hossfeld is not critical with specific dimension. It's more about the concept. As long as everything fits together and it's strong enough. It doesn't matter if the holes are 16 or 20 mm. I used 50x10mm cold rolled steel with 20mm holes.

Gday mate awesome job just started watching your channel I have been wanting to build my own bender for a while now and I think you nailed it . If you don’t mind me asking ? How did you work out your hole spacing on the table and the bars and are the spacing on bars and do you have a pattern for your table ? Cheers Jackson. P.S keep up the good work
@bartharkemametalworks22994 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaron, thanks for the compliment and have fun building your own. The spacing is 30mm (20mm holes) on the bars. On the plate its the same 30mm on the X and Y center line. The X and Y lines on the outside are spaced with 60mm. So no radius coordination, only work with 30 and 60 mm on X and Y.
