You can use the flap disc longer mostly due to using all of the contact surface. When handheld, no matter how hard you might try, you'll favor one edge of the disc (for me that's the outside edge)

Probly would have gone with sicker wall tubing because it limits the sheet that you can bend to less than the wall of the tube, Although obviously easy sickness of the shaft would make a bit of a difference as well you can't have the shaft weaker then the tubing.

great build & thank you for sharing! Might be possible to connect both side adjustment screws of the roller with chain driven gears. Just a thought.

Your tig welding looks beautiful. I wish I knew how to make the acme threads.

Thanks. And about the Acme. I just bought them and there relatively cheap.

Excellent workmanship. Bart, try a swivel head torch. You can easier maintain a comfortable hand position. Again nice work. ABC's of welding Always be comfortable.

Thank you. And a few month ago I bought a Lincoln Invertec (V200-t) with a flex head. I Like it a lot and agree that its a lot easier to keep a comfortable hand position.

And if you build the frame higher and stronger then you can add a shop press in to the mix, even put a plate bender and a shear to, i love combo tools with a small footprint...
@bartharkemametalworks2299
@bartharkemametalworks2299 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could make even more combinations. But I already have a shear and will build a heavy duty forge press in the near future.

Hi Bart, I think you could have built your ring roller just as a set of another attachment to the top plate, which would allow you also make smaller diameter rings

Yes good idea. That would make a nice addition 👍

Like your work, nice integrated design. But always a but. Lol In a Lot of places you use heavycwall stock and heavy flat bar then barely weld it, no weld prep for penetration, just on the surface. Then in many places you grind the welds. Not much holding it. The rect tube with flat bar at each end near the start is an example. Just wondering
@bartharkemametalworks2299
@bartharkemametalworks2299 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right about the welding. On some parts it could use some more beveling and I need to take some more time for that. But for the forces that it needs to hold it's more than enough.

Excellent work! How did you manage keeping the materials from starting to rust?? Workshop must really be low humidity.
@bartharkemametalworks2299
@bartharkemametalworks2299 4 жыл бұрын
Well I did have some rust problems but most of the build was during summer time and then it's fine for a few weeks. And I did a good cleaning before paint. In the winter it's really terrible with humidity in my workshop but I am moving in about a week.

Thank you Jeff. Sometimes I do teach Tig welding at home but not on KZbin. Maybe I could try that sometime. But there are already a lot of good video's about that.
