The best part of being the oldest brother was "helping" my younger brother or sister and actually just hijacking their turn, but it was their save/town/park/sim family, so as long as I was able to convince them that everything was helping them get ahead there would be no complaints.

The developer of this and Transport Tycoon is a legend. He programmed this in Assembler, hand optimized every function of the game using every Intel processor trick. That's why this thing ran so fast even on the oldest trash PCs. The level of detail and micromanagement you can do is far beyond anything current games do.

Amazing yes. Beyond current games? Definitely not. Modern games like Elden Ring are so perfectly crafted with so much depth and attention to story and detail. I haven’t even played it but I understand a good game.

I remember that you wanted to place rollercoasters on the edge of the park specifically so the passengers would be deposited outside of the boundary when they were ejected from the track so they never died IN the park. Think there was one where parks were next to each other and you could make the deaths count for the park next door this way too 😂

I played this game extensively when I was around 9 or 10. I was having lots of people complain about the cleanliness of my park, and rather than do what most people do (hire more handymen), I instead created Barf Island. I'd wait until the thrill rides finished, grab anyone who felt sick, haul them to an island in the middle of my lake (with a few amenities like food stands, drinks, toilets and a gentle ride), and leave them there until the nausia went away or until they vomitted. Then I'd return them back to the mainland.

The amount of hours of my life I spent playing this game, is insane... Don't regret a single bit of it. Also sank just as many into the sequels. Well, the good ones... When they stopped letting you kill people, I possibly cried... Watching the cart fly off the tracks and across the sky full of people as it crashes and explodes was a gift. A gift we all took for granted. Besides that, man it's so much damn fun to build an amusement park. Decorate, rides, the stalls, employees, of course rollercoaster building. Naming everything, anything u want under the sun. Customizing colors for everything. Watching guest vomit, or taking their path away as they get lost, or drown them. Man, it's great.

Hey, RCT nerd and real life coaster enthusiast here. Your first wooden coaster probably wouldn't've been "too intense" or "too scary" if you wouldve made that final curve wider, banked the track, or even simply put some brakes before the final curve. And Trevor joked.. but real parks absolutely can buy pre-designed coasters to save on time, and most of all (not true in rct) save money :p Also YES to more RCT2! Try to do some of the hardest campaigns first!
