With the inner frame in the green house you might consider putting your added layer in the inside to create an air gap between the two layers. I did that once and it was amazing how well that worked. Or you can add an additional frame to the ribs on the outside to create that air gap for insulation.

I've always been under the impression that you are not supposed to eat sun scalded green potatoes. You charged right through and ate them anyway. "Acute solanine poisoning can happen from ingesting green or sprouted potatoes. The toxicity of Gas in humans causes mainly gastrointestinal disturbances such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain." But, the trick is to cooking or frying the potatoes on high heat, which will destroy most of the solanine. So, there ya go. Appreciate the awesome videos, and keep prepping.

Your kitchen during the cookware was so pretty and bright! My hubby and I built a large greenhouse. It’s amazing! I would send pics but I don’t do social media. We started the build in March 2023 and finished at the beginning of December 2023. It took forever it seemed. We have a sawmill and so we cut the wood except some of it is pressure treated. We also reused and repurposed a good bit of materials from the farm. I also drew some inspiration from an old video of yours. It was one where you had an outdoor building with pretty seating and greenery. We wanted a space like that. We put some Tiffany lights in it and a cool patio table and chairs. We have an old farmhouse sink in it. The most special thing is a table and bench my daddy built. He passed three years ago and he built these pieces of furniture in our wood shop to have by his grill. He and my hubby were getting ready to build him a grill house and then he passed unexpectedly. The whole place is so nice and comfy. We are also working on irrigation for all our fruit trees. This year we are finally getting a dairy cow. We have been trying our hand at a homestead since 2020 and this year is a game changer. We’ve always gardened but adding meats and dairy and fruit is just so much fun. I am going to see if you and Angie are back at it. I’ve missed y’all on the podcast. Congrats on your greenhouse! You guys have such a beautiful place!

I’m in central/southern OR and have been growing 3 citrus trees in my Walipini-Greenhouse. I do need to pull shade cloth over the top in the summer but the winters never get below 40’s in there. It’s great!!

Ahhh....the projects. Not always the things we run to without delay but most of the time once we begin and embrace that there will be challenges to work through our outlook shifts...and when the project is complete there is always a happy sigh that we pushed through and cross it off the list! I have the same greenhouse and love it. I didn't see any roof vents? We installed the auto openers and they automatically open the roof vents (you can set the temp on the lower end 60 to the upper end 80 degree.

The big thing with growing year round, besides keeping the temp above freezing is day light hours. You’re further south than we are so you might still have enough hours. Unfortunately we don’t have enough between Oct and March

You might check out OYR One Yard Revolution. His winter videos are great on a greenhouse within a greenhouse growing. He lives in Chicago. He no longer makes videos but his KZbin channel is still up. I live in Montana and will try this method in the spring to extend my growing season and to get the plants out of my grow room earlier. Good luck to you!

The amount of green potatoes you would have to eat to be dangerous is very large.

Yes green potatoes can cause stomach upset if eaten in excess. That little bit isn't going to hurt anyone. Also it's just the green part of the potatoe that is the problem. So if you peel it off or remove it it will be totally fine!

No, not a variety...The green color of the potato is caused by exposure to light. According to PennState Extension, light causes the potato to produce chlorophyll and also solanine. Solanine has a bitter taste and is an irritant to the digestive system

It won’t kill you but the solan one can cause an upset stomach/headaches. In large quantity it could be worse. But you can oral it off and use the potato. It due to incorrect storage, light.

I'm in Alberta We've been in a ridiculous Deep Freeze, after that El Nino warm weather system that we had all fall and over Christmas. Another night of -41 Celsius. Our pipes have frozen. I have no water, and our cars won't start. My parents have been lambing during this cold spell. One newborn froze to death. It's been very sunny and not snowing, just cold. An alert went out to all cell phones last night, for people to back off on their power usage, or there could be power outages. Even telling those EV owners NOT to charge their power sucking electric vehicles. And the wind generators are not working in this kind of cold. But Trudeau plans on increasing his "Carbon Tax" scheme. Because taxing the hell out of people, will change the weather.
