My behind the scenes is about 80% of what people see in my content. And 10% is networking. That only leaves 10% of me live. I’ve recognized this early on and not only did it remove the pressure of streaming (it’s not a chore) it made me more confident when I DO stream because I KNOW I have put it 80% of work elsewhere. I know my stream is not my bread n butter. It’s just a cherry on top. Excellent video for those who are not “adulting” yet.

Super solid advice that I think even goes beyond just Twitch and content creation, everyone should have safety nets there as a backup. It's not being "scared of taking the leap" it's being smart about it.

Looking really bad for my apprenticeship and I feel like I won't be able to make it through, which is why I've started streaming on Twitch (seriously) and focus more on my KZbin channel too, slowly. Not only for the safety net, but also for personal growth. Seen really good changes already. I feel like I'm productive bc of twitch. Sometimes happiness comes around. I'm glad I have started this.

I know it's a year late but having a back up plan subconsciously holds you from putting in your all. Never have a back up plan all your plans should be Plan A and when it fails you find the next. No distractions aka "back up" plans shouldn't even be in your head. It may not seem like it now but later down the road if twitch ain't working now you're thinking about that plan b and it's taking your energy away. If there was no plan b then you're thinking "I gotta make this work let's look at it" instead of thinking about that plan b. Always Plan A

Absolute truth in this video! I know a few streamers who’ve quit their day jobs and gone full time then stopped putting the effort in. It’s just like other jobs, if you don’t turn up then you don’t get paid, but not enough people look at it like that.

Thanks for the video! Really needed the pep talk to lift the mood! I think what I struggle with is I put allot of effort into my streams and they have been going really well for the last 6 months but doing this while working full time is exhausting. I’m basically working from 6am to 8pm twice to three times a week! Getting so close to scrapping the miserable day job. Just gotta keep pushing.

Looking really bad for my apprenticeship and I feel like I won't be able to make it through, which is why I've started streaming on Twitch (seriously) and focus more on my KZbin channel too, slowly. Also I feel like I am more made for streaming, as it feels more natural to do than what I do for work. Even tho I am an introvert, streaming is fun and better for me. More info in the bottom half: Not only for the safety net, but also for personal growth. Seen really good changes already from 1 month streaming only. I feel like I'm productive bc of twitch. One big thing to consider that may be obvious: Make sure to calculate your annual salary from work and your net income. Calculate your monthly expenses and create a budget for yourself. If annual twitch income - taxes = break even or less you really need to consider if this is going to be sustainable long term after quitting your job.

I’ve been watching a lot of your videos because I myself want to go full time on twitch. Once before I could’ve but my mental wasn’t right. I say something that keeps me sane is having another source of income. That is being Gig work. You make your own schedule still... so it doesn’t feel like you don’t have time for streaming. Great video and keep up the great work. You got this on the full-time journey 🤘🏾✨

Congrats on 5k subs. I think everything you said was spot on. Personally as a safety net I’d have to have around 3months of income before making the Full time switch, just because the job market where I live is a bit of a mess since COVID. This way if all the content creation income streams start to decrease, and I have to pull the plug on the stream, I have a full quarter to get back into the work force. Btw I like direction you’re going with these videos :)

A streamer from England told me “ash if you can work at your job 8 hours why cant you stream 8 hours straight in a day” well ya if only twitch paid hourly lol. This might be a silly question but for someone like me who has around 170 follwers on twitch, what would you recommend putting on youtube? would it be like highlights of the month? or like should I start a separate playthrough? I appreciate all the videos and the help you have given myself and others
@xTwoShoes3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! So what I would say about highlight vids is that they are cool for you current community to watch but dont really offer any discoverability to new viewers. As you wouldnt really watch stream highlights from a streamer you have never heard of. So I would say trying to create searchable, discoverable content on youtube is a good idea:)

I've always said that I would need to be consistently making double my salary for me to considering doing it. I just can't see myself throwing away my career to do it. I treat livestreaming as a second income, and its a very good one at that. I usually feel bad for people going full time because most of them aren't in a position to be doing that.

Making money is not a requirement to be considered a full-time streamer. By definition, full-time is about amount of hours and priority and scheduling freedom not money. Money is an extra thing that's usually required to go full-time but their mutually separate things.
@junehanabi17563 жыл бұрын
Ohhhhh I see, nvm, your definition of full-time was intentional because slaving away full time at something is entirely invalid in your eyes unless your making substantial money from it. Even though full time, by definition, refers to a time component. I didn't realize you were in the business of invalidating people who do spend over 40 hours a week with their channel. Yea let's laugh at how stupid they are for calling themselves that. It takes money before your something legitimate
@junehanabi17563 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you started painting 8 hours a day, 5 days a week that would be your full time job and if you stopped after 3 months then it wouldn't invalidate the time you were full time
@junehanabi17563 жыл бұрын
If I go to college I can become a full-time student and not make any money. If your in grade school your also a full-time student. There are full-time voluntary positions in the world. Anything you do full-time is full-time because it's describing a time component
@junehanabi17563 жыл бұрын
I think your confusing full-time streamers with streamers who don't know what their doing and either overworking themselves or going in it to make as much money as they can, or not realizing that there's more to streaming than just streaming, there's also discoverability on other social media and building a following and improving your stream and channel and yourself all of which takes considerable time and is often part of the job if you want to be successful. Both can be full-time, but not being smart about your career can end badly
@xTwoShoes3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I think theres a slight confusion here, I'm more so referencing streamers or creators who actively want to make Twitch/content their job and support themselves financially from it. I am not trying to invalidate how people spend their time. If someone wants to spend 40 hours a week doing something that is their right, however, I don't really think it can be considered a job or employment. When I mention the term "full time" here. I am talking about it as a job or a means of generating income:) Hope that helps!
