If anyone ever wonders why silicone babies are so expensive just watch this series, so much work from sculpting to pouring...my goodness. I took a look at supply costs and they are so expensive. This is a labor of love! Carolyns generosity with this information is understated. Not only is this informative and entertaining but it is so valuable. Thank you so much.

I just wanted to also say a BIG THANK YOU for showing us all how to do this! Very fascinating to watch it all come together! I've watched all your other videos, but for some reason William's progress has been more insightful. I cannot wait to see him poured! I'm so thrilled to have seen him from start to finish!

I know that feeling when you where saying you felt stupid for using hot glue on your monster clay sculpture. Makes me chuckle because I know the feeling. Sometimes I just get so excited with a project and make such a stupid mistake that ruins the piece haha. But you always learn something!

Adding colour the the pouring silicone makes mixing more accurate that if the colour turns even in the mix that it acts as an indicator which tells you that the two part silicones A & B are mixed in to the right way.

do you have to "cook" the clay to get it to harden? or how does it harden?

i believe you have to bake the clay 30 minutes for every half inch of clay at 350 Fahrenheit or 176 celsius. i know im late

Hi Carolyn, I have to ask you a question. I know you wouldn't do it if it was dangerous but on the can of thinner, napthta, it says keep away from heat. I wanted to know if maybe I got the wrong kind and isn't it also what you soak your brushes in?
@chrissyschannel85896 жыл бұрын
Can you use it more than once ?
@CarolynDoughtyDolls6 жыл бұрын
Yes, if it’s a good mould you should get 10+ pours out of a mould. If it has a weakness or you are unlucky you might only get 1 (occasionally not even that) out of a mould.

Hello, I didn't catch the product name of the putty that you are using. My granddaughter makes tiny clay babies and she wants to give it a try. I have the Smooth-On silicone but don't know what the casting material that you are using is called. Thank you.

@@CarolynDoughtyDolls Thank you so much for your help. We were looking at that product after watching your videos but weren't sure. I have more questions before we make our attempt. Grace has a little channel and has been making babies since she was old enough to not eat the clay. lol. Thanks.

Before I saw your video's I purchased Smooth-On Universal Mold Release 14 fl. oz. Do you think it will work and then I will buy the stuff that your using the next time.
@CarolynDoughtyDolls5 жыл бұрын
Janet Hoose I know people who have used universal release and had no problems with it, so you should be ok but definitely next time buy the Ease Release spray it is made specially for silicone. There is also a liquid version of Ease Release called Ease Release 205, I have never got on with it and recommend the spray version.
@janethoose19495 жыл бұрын
Ok, Thanks. I will get the other the next time for sure.

It's me again Carolyn, I thought there was only one kind of glue that goes in a glue gun. I put some on my spinner board like you did and it works great until I went to take him off. I got the silicone loose and took him off and his pour spout I had baked on his head came off. I had to use a knife and hammer to get the glue off my board. I thought you might be able to tell me what I did wrong. Please, I'm afraid to do another one
@CarolynDoughtyDolls5 жыл бұрын
Diana Venzon hmm maybe it was the surface of the board different to mine. What about putting something disposable on top of the board like cardboard and sticking the sculpt to that

Hello Carolyn i wanted to know what paints you're using for the glove moulding process? I was thinking to use silc pigments since it's for silicone mixing but i can't find where to purchase large quantities of the paint i only find sample kits.. Thanks
@CarolynDoughtyDolls5 жыл бұрын
shonta ford hi, for larger quantity of silu pigments, if you look on amazon and eBay at Polycraft silicone pigments - they work fine for tinting larger quantity of silicone and are reasonable price.

Diana Venzon well you could gauge them out of the sculpt after he’s moulded but I prefer to keep the head intact - the eyes only cost maybe £4 a pair I prefer to keep the head sculpt and lose the eyes.
