Some friends and I started a sewing club and our first project is a pair of stays using Lunneth's pattern! I think the pattern is great and super cute and I'm very happy with how they turned out despite some problems with the binding 😅 What do you think? Lmk if you try this pattern out!

I love how Mister Cat turns his-self into a flexible pattern weight when cutting out. The corset came out absolutely beautiful. Well done. It looks super comfortable. I'm currently tracing out my 1950's vintage pattern for cigarette pants. I'm going to be upsizing them. First pair of pants and first time adding on this many inches to a pattern (the bust size is me, the waist measurements are... a distant memory). Hopefully the mock-ups will be kind. In the normal course of life I'd be putting this project off until the fall, but I got into a conversation with the nice elderly lady in Louisiana who was selling it. She's peer pressuring me for photos of the finished pants. Which is fun, I may be getting a sewing pen pal as well as a pair of pants out of the deal. But I haven't yet broke it to her that I usually sew at a snails pace... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

@moth.faerie

it doesn't have to be three layers, it can be as few as 1! typically i'll do two layers, the fashion outer and the coutil/canvas strength layer. if i only do one layer i use bone casing for the channels. anything tightly woven but not too heavy will work

Just a little piece of constructive criticism: it would really help foster an inclusive community if you highlight patterns that are size inclusive or just say at the start that unfortunately this pattern only accommodates a certain size range. It's just disappointing to hear how wonderful a pattern is and think the end result is so stunning and go to the pattern page and realize it only goes up to a size L. That being said, most of the patterns you've recommended before have actually been relatively inclusive so thank you for that!
@MrsBrit1
@MrsBrit1 Жыл бұрын
It seems like she does usually mention sizing, at least when talking about paid for patterns, but I'd guess maybe a lot of free patterns don't offer many different sizes. They are free, after all. A couple I've looked at are just one size, so you'd either need to be around that size and only need tweaks, or you'd need to know how to fully adjust it to a new size.
@moth.faerie

Ah sorry I usually do talk about sizing I just filmed this intro like two hours before the video had to go up, so I was a little scattered!
@madamemoonscosplay
@madamemoonscosplay Жыл бұрын
I'd like to jump in here as someone who makes their own patterns frequently and has been sewing for ten plus years, if this pattern is for 26" waist or lower, in order to get it over a size L, all you would have to do is add 3cm all the way around the pattern and it would fit at least a UK size 22 (which is roughly a 44"-45" bust and would fit anyone with a natural waist of 40-43" and a hip of 50-52") if you do this method, I'd still recommend making a mock up so you can keep track of any alterations needed. Or, respectively, you can count how many seams there are, and with a list of your measurements for bust, waist and hips, you can divide those measurements by the number of seams and it will tell you how much you can extend the pattern by. (Minus seam allowances) I hope this helps.

@@Shahrezad1 If you want to see the process of sizing up a pattern that way, the vintage pattern community has your back! Stephanie Canada, Queen De Luxe and A Vintage Vanity all have videos sizing up patterns using various methods. It is a lot easier to grade a multi size pattern precisely, though, because you have more lines to follow.
