@TheBakedPug2Ай бұрын
ya know johnny, modern diesel electric locomotives are equipped with what's called an exhaust gas recirculator (EGR). it mixes a portion of the exhaust with the intake flow to dramatically reduce certain pollutants in the expelled exhaust, at the cost of some efficiency. would such a system work at nitro motor scale? or would it not really scale that well like trying to turbo nitro engines? would be curious to see if you could rig up some system for measuring exhaust pollutants. maybe just jam some cotton up the tailpipe?

@@PenguinBrothers4LIFEThe problem is the size. It has to be way too big to not be very restrictive. I do think it would be cool to see him build a few in progressively larger sizes until he finds something that does work, even if it’s too large to be scale. It could be an interesting series.

@Arhange1790 i know of spot welders but this one appears to be wire fed I've never seen a wire fed spot welder.
@spaghettilocomotiveАй бұрын
@@boyoung360 It is not wire fed, it's just a mini tig welder with an auto retractable tungsten electrode.
@flomojo2uАй бұрын
@spaghettilocomotive Why would you ever want to bury the tungsten electrode in the work piece? That would just foul the electrode. Also, normally there's a gap between the electrode and the work piece for non-scratch-start welders. Just very strange, and doesn't look like it makes a strong weld.
@spaghettilocomotiveАй бұрын
@@flomojo2u I don't know, but if you watch you see that the electrode does indeed lose its point during the process. But that's normal for the usage in my opinion. There are three main ways to start an arc, high frequency start, scratch start and finally one that starts as soon as the machine notices that the electrode is no longer in contact, I's hazard a guess that this machine uses the latter in some form. It's basically the same as if I set my machine to 200A and hover the electrode over the workpiece and just tap the button, a quick blast to fuse the two parts together. Welding tips and tricks have shown this method in many videos as a good way to quickly tack things. I won't comment much on the strength of the weld, but I'm sure it's fine for what he is doing.

9:52 [Citation -Needed- Found] can anyone confirm on impeller disks, facing the curve of the blades twards the direction of the outlet increases power. (Answer Below)
@godlugner5327Ай бұрын
"The logic behind the backward bent blades is that the pumped medium has to slow back down from the rotation inside the rotor. This is most easily facilitated by the blades bending backwards since it provides a nice gradual transition from the high speed center to the slowly moving outside collection chamber. Eventually the medium has to go into the output flange and that is moving at the output flow rate, no faster, no slower. So such a rotor doesn't waste mechanical energy spinning the medium where it doesn't want to spin anyway. So then why are not all of them backwards if its so nice and efficient? Well it turns out that if what you want is high flow rate at low pressure (like a lot of air moving fans) the forward bent blades are better. They act as scoops to grab as much air as possible, get it up to speed quickly as possible and fling it out like a shovel. This lets the same size rotor create more flow rate." www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/why-is-the-curvature-of-pump-rotor-blades-backwards/
