Starting my 1st batch of tea wine. I'm glad this is faster than the fruit wines I'm making. In 2 weeks drinkable already. Can't wait for another week more. 😁😁😁

I’m sitting here enjoying an ice cold glass of tea wine. I put the sugar into the boiling water, and probably boiled it too long. I used Gervin yeast from wilko, it went off like a rocket for 7 days then stopped,. Having done the finings it was clear as a bell in 24hrs so I bottled it. I put sweetener in the cloudiest bottle and shoved it in the freezer, I got about a pint of concentrated booze and the wife loves it. Thanks for the idea.

Ive got a a question, since you swirl and pour the wine after it has fermenteda and dont use a siphon, wouldnt the contact with a lot of oxigen make it start turning into vinegar? Or does above 10% alcohol prevent that?
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap4 жыл бұрын
In order for alcohol to turn into vinegar, there needs to be the vinegar bacteria present. ( I tried a few time to make vinegar with no success) also as the alcohol is not degassed there is alot of co2 present in the alcohol, so oxygen isn't really a factor in this case 😁
@BroManAndSkatePunk4 жыл бұрын
@@makinghomebrewwildandcheap hmm i see, that does make a lot of snese. It's just that so many guides on brewing state oxidation and then your alcohol turning into vinegar as a big problem, hence the use of siphons and such. Thanks for explaining it a bit and making me somewhat less afraid of my precious alcohol turning into vinegar.
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap4 жыл бұрын
@@BroManAndSkatePunk to be fair, using a siphon is the way to go but for this brew i didn't, just to show you don't need one :) yeah I have to say alot of the guides are ...... not 100% accurate otherwise all my wines and beers would be terrible and well, vinegar :P the main thing that turns alcohol into vinegar are flies ( actually their feet as they usually have vinegar culture on them) and a constant supply of air ( vinegar needs oxygen, without it vinegar lays dormant ) my 2 pieces of advice to anyone just starting is: sterilize like you had ocd and its ready when it turns clear again hope it helps :D

I have no idea what I just made... I didn't have lemons or raisins so I used about 5 of those small Mandarin oranges a whole bag of Craisins.. dried cranberries.. tea bags and sugar and yeast it started bubbling away in about 2 hours so two days later I decided to take the lid off and take a sniff to see what it smelled like and I think I've burnt all the hair out of my nose.. I think I just made poison but I'll drink it anyway
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap8 жыл бұрын
ha ha, nose waxing :) it's ok it's just the co2, it has that's effect. well it should be quite a nice brew and it's all about what you have and a good experiment at very least

Tea wine. Ahhh alright. Sound easy enough to give it a try. I have lots of mint to play with. Tea is good, andnever made it into wine.... YET. Cheers SIr. =)
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap8 жыл бұрын
lol, well it's is a good one to try as just about every one has it kicking about the cupboards. The great thing about tea wine is you can add just about anything to it or just as is. mint could be quite good, I have a planter full of the stuff so may whip up a batch and see, thinking it will have to be on the sweeter side to bring out the mint .... lol :)

Hey, currently following your recipe how long do I brew tea wine for before adding finings? Only set it off on Tuesday 😂 is this a 1 month 2 month process?
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap6 жыл бұрын
hey, it should take about month, add your sweetener of choice to your own taste and you are good to go :)

You inspired me, and so I’ve just made a version of this tea wine. 😊 ...I was wondering, have you ever experimented with flavour concentrates when brewing?
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap6 жыл бұрын
hey, glad your feeling inspired. this tea wine is pretty good considering its just tea and lemon and a few sultanas :) I have used concentrates, cordials, coffee flavorings and food flavorings. all do a good job. food flavorings you need to use the expensive ones or it has a funny after taste :/

making homebrew wild and cheap ..Thank you for answering...I watched your sugar wine video...I think I’m going to try the sugar wine recipe and add some flavouring...I feel like I may turn into a mixologist 🤪

not a problem :) always about to lend a hand if i can. the sugar wine is a really good base for adding what ever flavors you like it them, I keep a gallon or 2 about just for that reason. really good for rapid fruit wines. usually if i a couple of friends come over at short notice i add fruits to it to make a quick wine. always goes down well :)

Why can I not use bread yeast ?
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap5 жыл бұрын
simply because this recipe is meant for brewing yeast. I have a play list on my channel page called brewing with bread yeast. if that's your bag.
@quebecredneck6665 жыл бұрын
I do not have brew stores near me so I have been experimenting with bakers yeast ( One day I will order some online ) But so far it works . Just not the best aftertaste . I do like your sugar wash video and mix it with something when it is done . I even mixed it with tea after for a better drink . Subscribed and will look at your play lists . Happy holidays
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap5 жыл бұрын
yea the after taste can be a little ..... interesting with bread yeast. if you like the sugar washes once it's finished put a healthy dollop of you favorite jam in it and have a cheats fruit wine :) I would suggest the ginger beer one, it's my personal favorite :) Merry Christmas!!!!

I believe that the biological yeasts produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiae from bread are the same for wines and beers. But, without a doubt, wine yeasts will be more expressive

I think you waste money using fining agents. Most tea wines will clear very quickly.
@makinghomebrewwildandcheap8 жыл бұрын
hey, Indeed you do not have to use finings in most wines ( tea or other wise) I use it for speed to bottling and brightness of the wine as well as a mild preservative . cheers :)
