Ilocos is going through transformation, with the SM mall going up in Laoag, the airport due for an expansion and roadways expanding and improving. Don’t wait too long too long, while you can probably buy a place in Ilocos and also La Union for the price of one condo in Manila.

Beautiful province. I can see why you would consider moving there. Though for me personally, I am still partial to the provinces in Southern Luzon. But I think you did mention before that one of the draws of Ilocos is the ease of traveling there since you need to come back to Manila every so often. I wonder if that Cacao drink you had tastes similar to Tablea Tsokolate which is what we use to make traditional Filipino chocolate drink (called "sikwate".)

Try to explore the Cagayan valley region it's not known to foreign tourist but so many places worth exploring! Palaui island, Pozo Robo beach, kaparkan falls, Kili falls, Mount Cagua, Dicotcotan beach. those are some of my favorites in that region and I know there's so much more to see there.
