Ok so you made me look it up: In the phrase “just deserts”, the word - also stressed on its second syllable (“de-ZERT”), thus homophonous with dessert - is, however, spelt with a single “s”. It comes from a different French word, desert (masculine)/ deserte (feminine), derivatives of deservir “to deserve”. Thus the phrase is saying a person gets the justice they deserve. So it's nothing to do with either cake or sand. UPDATE: After some great replies, I looked into it a little more. It comes from old French, not contemporary language.

Brilliant. Also for a second I thought she was Zooey Deschanel and was like wow Joel you're really moving up in the world! She was great in this skit nonetheless!

They're REALLY good in this sketch. Like REALLY good. Paid actor good. Paid Hollywood actor good.

Joel, I don't know what it is about you, your team, the videos you make but I feel genuine joy almost every video I watch. And I absolutely love the off script endings. Thank you so much.

Quality acting from Hannah. Her energy blended super well with Joel's film style and humour. Another J. Haver banger vid.

She's Rashida Jones and Zooey Deschanel's fusion dance form that then does a Potara fusion with Elizabeth Olsen. I think that's pretty accurate.

Wish I knew if the two darker jars also contain popcorn. And are they different kinds of kernels? And why are they taking up so much prime space on the kitchen counter? Do they pop so much and so often that the jars need to be readily accessible? So many questions.

This made me existential. Gremlins is literally the movie that made me first question Santa. The older kids on the school bus told me he wasn’t real but I explained to them that he doesn’t come by there house because they are mean. Hollywood destroyed my childhood. P.S. Gremlins is the best Christmas movie ever, minus the Santa isn’t real part.
@kayEnt3rtainm3nt3 жыл бұрын
That's the best part of that movie. In 5th grade my classmates hit me with a wooden cross on a necklace and told me I would burn in eternal hellflame for not worshipping Santa. I repeat; this was in 5th grade. Screw Santa and all of the people who perpetuate his cult of child-zealots.
