When the cnc jogs it will show up in your work, the table if not stable enough. Nice design!

I think a couple of legs with wheels on the front of that drawer may be a good idea to take up some weight if you put something heavy on there to cnc...

I like what I see. My space is limited too so, I'm thinking of doing something similar so I'm curious, you've lived with this for a while now, are you happy with it? Any tweaks you'd like to do or things you'd do differently if you were to do it again?

I printed my MCCNC about a year ago. Have had it stood up in the corner after I got the Longmill. Got it back out today to make it a plasma CNC.

Nice way to store your CNC out of the way. I built an MPCNC but realized I wanted something more rigid so then I built an PrintNC. It was a lot more expensive but I like it a lot more. BTW, I used an old control board from one of my Ender 3 3D printers for my MPCNC. It took a bit of work in Marlin to set it up but worked just fine. The motion control is basically the same so you can use something like that if you can't find a board.

It really can do a lot! I cut some of the aluminum parts for the full size CNC router with my last one.

That's good thinking and I look forward to your next steps. You should think about closing in the sides - you can pull the machine out for setup but run it inside for noise and maybe dust control too.
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 2 жыл бұрын
I hadn't planned on running it while it is under the bench, but that sounds like a good idea with the sides enclosed.

Very nice build , like the hideaway feature. If you have it extended and are cutting with it I'd put 2 sturdy retractable legs on the front so the vibration when it's in use doesn't show up in the product your making. That's just what I would do. You came up with a great idea for storage and room. Thank you for the very interesting video.

I just rebuilt my mpcnc with the primo setup. Seems to be a lot better than the previous versions. I was regularly replacing parts on the old version until I started printing everything in petg and even then, certain parts would break. Looks like a nice convenient setup you have going there. Thanks for the video!

Something to consider is that a cnc can still be valuable even if it isnt super accurate. Some of us are just trying to bang out rough stuff.
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 10 ай бұрын
Exactly, there's no need for .001+- accuracy for the stuff I need a CNC for.

Good afternoon or good morning to you Making stuff. IT'S Graeme from South Africa, a small town called Kimberley. I am just in process of building my own cnc laser engraver ,would you recommend the Linuxcnc 2.9 to start up with for someone for the very first time. I built the cnc up from scratch I got separated parts because I couldn't afford to buy a fully made cnc I just didn't have the money to do so. I have built the table and set up the cnc ,and made a box to house the Electronics for cnc and put different electronics parts in to place to be wired up.
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 2 жыл бұрын
My opinion is that if you can build a CNC machine, you can figure out Linuxcnc. It's free so if you wind up using something else, it didn't cost you anything other than your time.

Thank you very much, you have answered my question Linuxcnc is the one will be using. Now my other question I have for you is , today I got my laser tree LT-40W-F23 it has a three wires yellow black red how do I link it up to my 5 Axis panel.

Im a bit confused regarding the text from V1 Engineering page saying that I should calculate the size of my machine based on the size of my "build area". Let say the area I want to utilized is the size of depron sheet it self (610mm x 914mm), is this the value that I should enter into the "cut calculator" ?

how sturdy is it in use, any shaking of the slide out platform?

I would not trust the slide out shelf to be level or to stay level once cutting something, I would fit some adjustable legs just to keep it true
@MakingStuff

Yeah I was thinking that it may also need locking casters on the workbench. We'll see once all the parts arrive and I can make some cuts. Thanks for watching!

FYI, you've got a few links that aren't to the right items on Amazon (both here and on your web site) I like the design, I just wish V1 would release CAD files (even STEP) so that I can assemble virtually before I plan out a build

Thanks for the heads up on the links. Will be fixed shortly.

You didn't mention which control board you were looking for but any control board for a 3d printer with at least 5 motor controllers would work so long as you feel confident enough to build the marlin firmware for that board which isn't to difficult. I am very happy with BTT SKR 1.4, seem appear to be in stock on their website, which I bought while building my MPCNC lowrider but since I blew up my control board on my 3D printer ended up being used there instead although I would suggest a more recent board than that, I was thinking of the Octopus.

@MakingStuff

Links to every thing in the description. You should be able to build this in the $500 ball park range. Just depends on how fancy you want to get with it.

Oh No !! You can't find *any* controller boards..or are you wanting a specific one? I'm in the process of printing my parts..so the board will be next...now I'm concerned I can't get a controller.
@ajosepi1976
@ajosepi1976 2 жыл бұрын
Most likely he wants a specific one. There are loads of CNC components available, but a lot are of low quality and some of the better ones are back ordered, but you shouldn't have a problem getting SOMETHING. You may need to settle for good enough and upgrade later when the supply chain is not so bad.

I'm looking for a specific RAMPS board, same as used in 3D printers.
