There is a screw adjustment to make the base a little stiffer. Right on the side of the flip over latch. It's the first thing I did after testing mine out. Great review
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 7 жыл бұрын
Paulie Bonear Yeah I saw that and decided it was a trade off between quick slip on/off and having it not move as easy when adjusting. I'll see how I go but I think I'll end up giving that lock nut a tweak. 👍🏼 You happy with your unit overall ? (mike)

Oz Tool Talk mike oh yea man. I'm petty much making up excuses just to use this baby. I would really love to get that plunge base accessory but I live in canada and it's difficult too find these things right when they come out. Overall though I'm very impressed with its power and visibility of cut. Battery life is usually a given on makita brushless tools
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 7 жыл бұрын
Paulie Bonear lol nothing wrong with that :). I'd love the plunge base just to have it in case, but the fact I have 3 other plunger routers makes it a hard justification. Makita's batteries had a bad patch a few years ago but I've got nothing but good things to as about the for the past 5years+ 👍🏼

If you leave a bit of pressure on the cam clamp when you’re adjusting the height it doesn’t slide as easy and makes it easier to do fine adjustments.

Actually Makita's FIRST cordless trimmer(and probably world's first cordless router) is: 3700D 7.2V Cordless Trimmer. Made about 20 years ago. :)

Good as gold mate! Does this router has actually the same 8mm collet as the rt700? I heard it's single split collet can be a quite awkward to get out and doesn't tight that well....

Almost identical to the mains version ,which is also a good unit,Ido find the height adjust on the Makita to be a bit clunky ,the Dewalt method is a lot better from what I've seen,although all routers scare the bejesus out of me

Nick M HAHA yeah I have a nice scar that reminds me to respect ALL routers. I've never minded the adjustment for the powered unit but I think the extra weight of the battery on top made me more aware. Still a big fan though. (Mike)

how does it compare to the aeg one? which ones better in your opinion?
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 7 жыл бұрын
(Mike) Personally i would go the Makita. I think it feels nicer and i like it has more metal. On the power front the AEG isn't far behind so its ALMOST a 50/50 decision. If you are on Makita batts then of course you would go here without any hesitation.

George McKnight (mike) Thanks George, Depends where you are from but I personally use mostly carbitool bits. A lot of companies have good bits so You can’t really go wrong unless you buy the $10 ‘value’ pack.(Not a fan)

Thanks Mike...been a cordless Makita user for a number of years now and just making the dip into the router/trimmer scene, so this tool makes a lot of sense, along with carbide tools, thanks for your recommendation

Any idea how long time the battery is expected to last. I run 1,5Ah batteries. Will it be too small for a router?
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 7 жыл бұрын
Anders Hansen I didn't do a runtime test but running a 6.0 on it at the time of review gave me a STACK of time. I don't Believe it will accept the 1.5 (has a plastic block) Makita has a crazy thing about using slims on 1/2 of they're range. Whilst I get it that they don't want high drawing tools running slims and getting say 10min runtime id still love for them to allow it.
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 7 жыл бұрын
[Dwain] having said that, the power draw of this tool will heat up your slims really fast. not good for them and will run out real fast. Go get some large batteries mate :)
@Angelspotter
@Angelspotter 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the answers. I will probably get one or two 5.0Ah batteries, especially if I'm getting the trimmer...I'm just looking for the right project to justify the buy :-)
