Really appreciated that you touched on all the main benefits and drawbacks in just 5 mins. Clear consise info from someone that's used it for a year means i was able to get exactly what I needed from a person qualified and experienced enough with the product to give their opinion. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Issac. Informative, especially how it switches over to neutral when lifted. Much appreciated

I have this sander as well, and just finished my first project over Christmas, sanding back a stool which had been left outside for a few years, untreated, so that I could oil it and keep the brown colour alive. I am very happy with it.

Thanks for taking the time to do up this review- was on the fence about corded vs. battery and you sold me on the battery. Big fan of Makita.

Motor just died after about 5 years of heavy use, brilliant little tool. Replacement motor is £20 in the UK, happy days, here's to another 5 years.

tbh ive only used the cheap HF random orbit and my makita cordless. i absolutely love rhe cordless model and the weight/lack of power is kinda of a benefit. i dont want to be sanding through in between finish layers and i kinda just dont push down at all and its been great!

Nice review. Would be interested to know more about the dust bag too.

Thanks. The dust bag works okay. Definitely not as good as using a vacuum on it but does the job.

Curious to hear what made you switch from ryobi to makita? :)
@Isaacbuildsthings
@Isaacbuildsthings Жыл бұрын
Hi, I might make a video on this. Quite a few reasons. Mainly because ryobi just couldn’t stand up to the work when I started doing carpentry on a building site. They’re just not made to be professional tools. The impact and drills are not close to being as powerful. If I kept doing just woodwork in the shed I probably could have gotten away with sticking with ryobi. Also the weight, my Makita impact driver is so much smaller and lighter and still way more powerful. Another reason was my boss on the building site also had Makita so it made sense to have the same batteries. Another reason was the selection of brushless tools. Most companies have heaps of range but each company has something that others don’t like chainsaw or mower etc.

@@Isaacbuildsthings Thanks for your reply. When you say they couldnt stand up to your work, was it the ryobi HP line? Im just a regular homeowner/DIY, but i dont want tools that crap out on me within 5 years for doing light to medium work. Also i can understand from all the reviews i have seen/read, that Makita is the winner of ergonomics between the big three. I just really like Ryobi for all the niche items they have, but i guess they will just have to be my secondary platform

No I don’t think I had any of the HP range. Not sure if they were out yet? One option is also to use Makita and then get a few ryobi tools and a battery adapter from Amazon or AliExpress that plugs into ryobi and let’s you use Makita batteries. Not recommended for any warranties etc but I’ve kept the air bed inflator, camping light, and weed whacker ryobi and use Makita batteries on all of them fine with an adapter.

Thanks for the review. Which Ryobi orbital sander model did you replace?

There is a newer version of this called DBO182. It has only two speeds but has faster RPM. Can you give me an advise about which version I should buy ? Thank you.

I’m not 100% sure sorry, but I’d maybe recommend the newer one. If anything I’d like the sander to have a bit more power.

Yes if you get an adapter. Haven’t seen them on sale anywhere though so might have to get one custom made.
