Recently I purchased a 10 piece combo kit of Makita Cordless power tools and thought I'd unbox and review each of them for anyone who is doing some market research on what tools to buy!
Here's a link to the combo kit unboxing and a review on the charger & batteries - • Makita 18V Brushless L...
Here's a link to the DGA504 Angle Grinder Review - • Makita Cordless 125mm ...
I am not sponsored in any way by Makita and receive no benefit from anyone for doing this review.
If you wish to support my channel by purchasing through one of my Amazon links below, that would be very much appreciated - but certainly not the aim of this video. I won't give links for any product that I wouldn't buy myself :)

Also, I now have an Amazon storefront where I share links to assorted tools & equipment I use and recommend. As well, I'll be adding links for various supplies and products used in my videos as time goes on. Nice review, I've had a cordless circular saw for quite some time now but do break out the old corded one now and again and it really makes you appreciate the ease of use of the cordless ones.

I don't think I'd ever go back Doc! If fact - I'm selling the dusty old corded one I have here!

Please keep on reviewing the Makita range as that is the brand I have been buying. It's very nice that people like yourself are doing these videos. Cheers 👏👏👏👏👏

good stuff Chris love my makita tools had cordless for the last 10 years on my farm would never go back to having to take the genni with me for the small jobs looking to up grade to the brushless your videos are giving me the push not that mine have given up yet only had one battery die on me also running a few after market ebay batterys that are just as good

Thanks Michael. Makita say not to use after market batteries (which is expected, as they want to sell theirs!). I'm not sure how they'd go with the brushless range as I think they are more computerised? I don't think I would try it at least until they are out of warranty..

I just converted a dewalt ni-cad powered circular saw to take lithium battery packs. And I agree, these wireless saws are infinitely more friendly than thier corded counterparts.

I got a ryobi 18v power saw like yours but without the lithium battery in a hard rubbish pile. So a heavy duty 24v transformer with a bridge rectifier was used to power this saw and it did not like heavy cuts like the one you showed in your video. The one reason why I went to all the trouble to do this is this saw is very light and my shoulder and hands do not hurt as much.
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
I found the Makita saw very manoeuvrable and not hard on my dodgy shoulder at all actually! I doubt I'd be able to use one of those old heavy corded models safely any more..

@@TheUltimateRecycler I was using that saw last night and the magic smoke came out so I had to use my 6.2 kg hitachi saw. I will be suffering for a while. At 24v X 7 amps it is 168 watts which is not a lot of power compared to my hitachi at 1700 watts.
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
@@luckygen1001 Oh no, not the magic smoke! I guess the power required depends on what you are cutting - but yes, that's a fair difference!

Nice saw, I am still using the corded Skil saw that I bought 25 years ago. If that one ever dies I may invest in cordless.
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
Those old Skil saws do take some killing Rick - maybe you'll have to just retire it as it may outlast you and then you'll never get to experience the enjoyment of cordless!!

@@TheUltimateRecycler Just a thought... you have a set of REALLY nice tools, you also have a store and a knack for turning a profit... Have you considered renting out your tools on a daily basis from your store? Or at least some of the less used tools? Perhaps pick up duplicate tools for the most popular ones... from the rental profits... Perhaps also charge by the battery, don't rent out the charger, it would also limit the wear and tear on the tools! Anyways it was just a thought...

Does it have any play in the base? Try holding the saw and see if the base plate is perfectly tight

whats the difference between the Makita Dhs680z and the Makita Dhs680 ?
@TheUltimateRecycler

I'm not actually sure on that! I think it has something to do with what accessories are included. The Dhs680 may be just the skin & not the battery.. 🤔

Nice review, but you really, really shouldn't be putting your left hand underneath the workpiece like you do at 10:50. If the saw kicks back you risk maiming your fingers - so even if you know what you're doing, it is a super dangerous thing to be teaching beginners (who are the ones likely to be watching this). Both hands on the saw - and and never, ever reach underneath the workpiece while the saw is running. Ever.
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment and concern Andreas! My left hand was actually behind me while the saw was in front, so I think that was pretty safe - but I take your point that you can never be too careful with power tools! Cheers, Chris
