Finally! I've been searching for a demo of how well this thing would edge a sidewalk. After 10+ videos of unboxing, and no trimming, I finally found this, and am done searching. Thank you!

Had one of these for over a year now.lm 65 ,of all the line trimmers I’ve had this is undoubtably the best.have used makita drills,torches since I was 20,all have been excellent,another winner.

At 65, I’ve used a handful of brands of these, and they’re all easier to operate than gas models:very convenient. Even the old ones that used heavy ni-cad batteries were an improvement. Although I’ve never owned the Makita brand, my son-in-law really likes his. Not trying to tell you how to operate yours, but I always get better results edging going left to right. You might give it a try. Good job on the video. Thanks for taking the time to post it!

I have just purchased this Trimmer on the basis of your review. I fitted a 1.5Ah battery with a view to see how long it would last so that I could extrapolate the result for my larger battery. I was somewhat surprised to see that the trimmer completed cutting the edge of my brick edged lawn, which is 80m long (total distance around the circumference), and still had power to spare. This is the first cut that the lawn edge has had this year so it had a bit of dirt to move as well. The machine was in use for just over 15 minutes, although there were a couple of short outages whilst I demonstrated the machine to my wife. A couple of shrub growths got in the way but the trimmer cut through them. The line feed also worked faultlessly. I was also surprised how useful the ability to change head angle was. All up this is a great machine for domestic use. Thank you for taking the time to post your review as it really helped inform my decision to buy.

i almost bought this as i use makita powertools and have been gardening for moeny i lost bcoz of the weathr in winter. I have 10 5a batteries, however some jobs ive been asked to do, ive decided to buy a new makita petrol EL2600 for £115. i spent the money on the strimmer so i can strim long grass down on large lawns and then go at it with the makita 36v mower. dont fancy spalshing 350 on a petrol mower thats going to need maintainance or if it wont start itl be a pain.

Try to get just the tip of the string to touch what you are cutting. Much less likely to snap that way.

It's not so bad after you realize it's not as powerful as a gasoline trimmer. Just make sure you replace the standard cutting string it comes with. It's cylinder shaped and not so effective.

With one string this trimmer should vibrate like crazy. Yes, I know, there's counterweight inside the head, but different trimmer lines have different weights, and line length should also be precise, but that's impossible due to nature of this tool. Overall, such a head is a failure, IMHO. I was considering buying this just to try it out, but what's the point if I also need to buy proper head for it?
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL It's just weird seeing trimmer head with one string. I have gas and electric trimmers, both have heads with two strings opposite each other, but I guess I won't know unless I try it. 200€ though (with 5Ah battery and charger).

We purchased this product based on this favorite review. But at first, we were very surprised to see how short the battery lasts. So we fully charged the battery and tried again for several times - every time, accurately 18 minutes. We thought it was a faulty battery and went back to the store. The store said the time would be right - there were not any official statement about the battery as far as they know, and this video was not published by Makita (although it looks like working for Makita). So they cannot exchange or return the product . On the package, there is a 30 minutes sign for the battery, but the store said it was the recharging time, not the working time for the battery. We got a little upset because we thought Makita was trying to be tricky and sneaky about the battery issue from the beginning. Another problem with this eqipment is that it does not work as powerful as this video showed. But the video does a good job showing how this tool works.

Right, first of all, I do not work for Makita. What Ah battery were you using? Are you suggesting I 'faked' the cutting ability of this trimmer?
@77blacktrip
@77blacktrip 6 жыл бұрын
Tools & Stuff I bought this trimmer, cuts just like yours does in the video. Edger function is sweet too. People should be running at least a 4ah possibly 5ah if they have a lot of trimming/edging to do. I suspect the 18min could be a 1.5ah.

Seems that one is not sold in United States AND you are comparing a $100 (US) tool to a $200 tool; not a fair comparison. In most cases when you double the money you double the performance. I have Makita and Ryobi tools and so far, $ to $ the Makita is a better tool AND the Makita batteries fit many tools just like the ONE+ system.
@MauriceNL1

@@tinaleanne8230 The Ryobi comes with 2.5 Ah battery and charger in the box, the Makita doesn't. The Ryobi is around 100 dollar without battery and charger
