Here is my take on the makita dab radio DMR104, short review and straight to the point. This is an excellent site radio so far i have found this little beauty indestructible, it is a little bit expensive but defiantly worth the extra money.

I have this radio in blue. I don't use it for work; I just like its rugged, hard-wearing look, and that's what I use in my home. The rich bass is a welcome bonus too. Nothing worse than a tinny radio speaker.

Sir Percival Smallcock-Jones haha you are right there, my radio has been through so much since showing this video and it's still going strong. I honestly cannot fault this radio! Thanks

good review. I have had the exact same radio, in white too, for over a year now and although i like it, i HATE that it is soooo bassy. you cant even turn it above 14/15 volume as it just starts distorting so badly and there's no way to adjust the bass level. It has got to the point now that i'm going to install a passive crossover inside to reduce the bass or just replace the speakers with some onboard filtering. They just cant reproduce bass at high volume so they should have included a filter, something around 80-100hz to just avoid it. having a volume range up to 30 when it cant get past 15, maybe 16 at a push depending on the song is just pointless, and 14-15 isnt even that loud! Its the one big problem with these radios.

Thank you for the comment Peter, you have hit the nail on the head there the radio is actually really bassy. Some radio stations I can't listen to for this reason so it does unfortunately put a black mark against it, that seems like a good idea you have had! Let me know if you find it works out better for you 👌🏻 thanks again Peter I appreciate it

Just bought one today from Screwfix. £120. I’m not a builder or on site but wanted something rugged to take down the beach or go camping. The downside is if you don’t own a Marita tool you’ve got to buy a charger and battery if you want portability, so add another £50 or more to the price. Volume starts to distort higher than 20 so I’ll investigate swapping out the speakers for something better but it’s not necessary as how loud do you want it? Overall I love it!

Thanks Martin, I agree if you don't have the battery power from additional tools then it's either running off the mains or using any 1 of the batteries makita have made previously. I love how tough this radio actually is I've dropped mine off stairs, second stories and covered it in dust, mud, dirt on site and it still works perfectly. Thank you for the comment Stuart hopefully you would consider subscribing 🛠

Just to let u know I manage to run mine on a black n decker battery but cause the battery is large I can't lock the back up, shame cause the Drill is knackered so it would be a good use of a battery.

Just got one today. I tried to see of the problem you have with the station search flicking back to volume happens with my new one but it don't it stays in the channel search mode until I stop adjusting it and even then you have to wait around 7 or 8 seconds or so until it switches back.

Anyone know if it charges the battery while plugged in as well? My Makita Batts don't fit to check so will buy one online but if I don't need charger then obv it's cheaper.

Hey Andrew, I don't believe that this model (XRM06B) has a battery charging function. The newer model, which can run the 40w batteries, can charge Makita batts but the new model is $150+ more expensive...

Is the sound quality still good if you have the volume up really high?

There is a slight distortion of you really listen but even now I do not really notice it. To be honest no radio (site) is going to be absolutely perfect but this one has certainly done it's best and I'm still happy with it
