The problem you're having is that the batteries are now "locked" by the BMS chip inside them. When you try 3 times unsuccessfully to charge a battery with a genuine Makita charger, the charger will "lock" the battery. Even though the voltage is back to a normal range by "jump starting" it, the BMS is still locked and will be forever. The only option moving forward is to replace the BMS inside the battery. The key here is that attempting 3 times in total to charge a battery, where the charger gives an error of some sort each time, after the third it will permanently lock the battery. One thing to try is an aftermarket Makita charger - they don't refuse to charge a "locked" battery and your tools will function but it's going to essentially bypass one of the battery protection mechanisms (the lockout after 3 failed charging attempts)

Nice, very interesting to know

If it is only charged wrongly 2 times, and then fixed by replacing the broken cell, will the count then be reset again?

Ive got now 3x batteries who arent older than 2 years and i maybe used them 20x times each over the years in like 1 week all of them got that light moving left and and right error. Ive used original charger aswell aftermarket and still nothing. Ive cleaned the ports with compressor and nothing..

@@Earlhelder Used them daily framing houses and eventually had to replace them whether makita or aftermarket they all seem to have a lifespan and wear out. There are better aftermarket varieties (nothing as good as the originals)

I’m so annoyed. 2 5Ah batteries died on the same day! Starting to rethink the benefits of battery tools, at least makita ones.

I took bad drill. Cut the bottom off. Pulled th wires through. Hooked them up to my car charger and then they would charge now when ever I need to fix a battery I have the tool I need

two diodes blinking like that on charger means that cells are not ballanced. So there is too big difference between them. You need to open battery and measure each cell. Possible best way to fix it is to change all cells to brand new. 4Ah and less have kind of dumb BMS and allows for that easy. If i'm not wrong from 5Ah and up there is a smarter BMS and can couse some issues.

How about getting a Milwaukee to Makita adaptor and a Milwaukee charger (£45 for them) and use Milwaukee batteries? If Makita batteries are poor perhaps this is the ultimate solution.

Good idea

If you are handy you can open one and check voltage between cells, you will find some are much more discharged that otherones. Make it even and thats it. Unless voltage is close to 0. Than you must change all cells (best way to fix) Be carefull, fire is not extinguishable. You may have metal bucket and sand beside.
