Makita DSS611 VS Makita DHS680 18V Circular Saws

Thank you for the vid. My father has an old coldless Ryobi that can't cut 2x4, so I was hesitant on getting another cordless saw. This looks like the perfect tool for the occasional one off cuts.

For total fairness you should have used identical brand new blades, you can see the chip size and amount of saw dust produced by the blade of the brushless makita is totally different

Cant really judge because no real comparison which blades are used. A saw's rip cutting abilities are mostly made up by tooth count and sharpening geometry. Looks like the 680 had a Z12 on, but cant see what the 611 has. Probably Z24.

The one complaint I have about the brushless saw is the little lever for adjusting the base plates depth. Firstly once base plate was at maxx depth the lever would be lower and catch on material and now the circlip has popped off!

I'm not sure how can we compare 2 saws with different blades!. It doesn't make any sense to me. Next time I would suggest to use the same blade on both saws. Otherwise good short to the point video.

Stop being ridiculous. Both saws are mine and they are the same brand, there is no reason to falsify a test in this case. It is a circular that has 1500RPM in addition, a fast Efficut blade and a Brushless motor.

the brushless tool motors die faster than the brushed. BUT yes the brushless has more power. Brushless will last you 1 years Brushed will last you 7 years

The main problem is that the Brushless motor is more expensive to repair, in case of a failure.

Its basically carbs vs fuel injection. Yes you might need to change the brushes but its cheap and easy. The speed controllers on the BL will likely mean a new saw. But the batteries are a big proportion of the cost so the efficiency of a brushless motor might mean your battery lasts twice as long so be cheaper in the long run. My drill/driver are BL but in this case i'll probably go brushed as there's a higher load on a saw motor.
