Last year I purchased a 10 piece combo kit of Makita Cordless power tools and thought I'd unbox and review each of them for anyone who is doing some market research on what tools to buy!
If you'd like to help the channel along & you found this video helpful, you can buy me a coffee here..

Here's a link to the combo kit unboxing and a review on the charger & batteries - • Makita 18V Brushless L...
Here are links to other tools from this kit I have reviewed..
DGA504 Angle Grinder - • Makita Cordless 125mm ...
DHS680 Circular Saw - • Makita Cordless DHS680...
DRT50 Trimmer Router - • Makita DRT50 Cordless ...
I am not sponsored in any way by Makita and receive no benefit from anyone for doing this review.
If you wish to support my channel by purchasing through one of my Amazon links below, that would be very much appreciated - but certainly not the aim of this video. I won't give links for any product that I wouldn't buy myself :)

Also, I now have an Amazon storefront where I share links to assorted tools & equipment I use and recommend. As well, I'll be adding links for various supplies and products used in my videos as time goes on. Even if you purchase something on Amazon totally unrelated after entering through one of my links, it really helps support my channel with a small commission.. and it costs you nothing extra at all! 😊👍
Thanks for watching!

Great review, I like that machine. I have a lot of Makita products and I find all of them to be well built and well designed. I am surprised at the head coming off like that. Minor issue though. I currently use Echo trimmers and not having to deal with mixing the oil and gas, not to mention the noise, would a nice change for sure. Thanks again! 👍👍. Cheers!

Not bad Chris. I’m like you, I reckon those slots in the cutter head are a way better idea than the eyelet system.

I have used my new makita after watching your video which helped me assemble it. Trying to improve my edging technique, maybe I should try the auto setting. The edges are high and thick.

I tend to use the unit on high all the time now - unless very light going. These units are not that good when the grass gets high & thick. Best used often and it's an easy job. Thanks for watching Sue

Great review, thanks for demonstrating using it as an edger as not many reviews do. Did you find it comfortable and ergonomic to edge?
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler Жыл бұрын
Thanks Adrian! Yep, it was comfortable to edge due to the light weight and good balance - but like all of these trimmers, it's a little awkward getting the angle right to trim the edges while also having a good view of where you are going!

Nice review chris. If you trim grass once at least once a week that should last a longtime.

Thanks Wayne! I think one of the secrets to a long life for a trimmer is to use it often so that it's not overloaded trying to trim a month's worth of growth in one go! 👍😊

good review, i may keep My eye out for a used one, i've got an older ryobi with adapter to My makita batteries, and it's very unbalanced much like the 240v ones. (need forearms like popeye) I have a cordless 18v ozito chainsaw (adapted makita battery also) and it's a beast, for home use you wouldn't miss a petrol one either i don't think. I'm skeptical of how long they'll last but at least the top brands batteries don't go obsolete before the machine is dead, which reason i got the ozito chainsaw for free.

Thanks Dean, I'm still using an Ozito cordless drill and I have to say it has lasted very well. The batteries develop faults though and don't fully charge - I may have to investigate that (and do a video of course!)

@@TheUltimateRecycler there are some ozito to Makita adapters, but not for the chainsaw i have, so check the models suit your drill. or make your own (either gutting a dead battery for the slide/connector or fitting a "DIY Adapter" directly to the drill if its your only ozito. ) (i haven't made a video for my chainsaw as i ideally need to improve the mounting of the adapter but it works fine, one side screwed, other side tied with tie wire as a proof of concept)

Yeah, it doesn't replace a lawn mower unless the lawn is VERY small. On a small front & back lawn + nature strip, it takes a while to do and you'll run out of power. So best to also buy a matching mower. My experience is that it should be on medium speed setting.

Thanks Tiny! The other thing with a lawn is that a line trimmer doesn't do a very neat job as it's hard to keep it level. Thanks for watching 👍😊

I much prefer electric trimmers. The vibration from the gas ones gets pretty unbearable after 10 minutes or so. Right now I have a corded trimmer that I picked up at a thrift store for $10. I like it, but the first time I used it I accidentally hit my power cord and ripped it open. 😅 So I am a bit jaded about using it. Perhaps its time to find a battery 🔋 unit. I just helped my grandmother assemble a brand new battery line trimmer, and it got me thinking about purchasing one. You may have pushed me over the line with this review. Thanks 😊

It is very nice not to drag a cord around behind you - even apart from the danger of damaging it. Just the freedom of a light trimmer with no "anchor" is great. Not to mention having to unroll an extension cord and then put it away each time..

Thanks. Yeah, the weight and balance is pretty good. Certainly much better than a petrol powered unit! 👍😊
