Makita EM2600L 3 Year Review

Hi this is just a quick review of the Makita EM2600L after 3 years of ownership. Someone had commented on my main review video that I should have waited before making the review. When I bought this machine I knew it was good quality and was overall impressed with the trimmer. My opinion has not changed at all. Anyways thanks for watching have a good day.

I have a part time lawn care business. I've used the EM2500l for almost 4 years. Has always run great. Yesterday the gearbox went. I ordered another gearbox from ebay, which will take about a week for delivery. I need a trimmer for next week, so I got the EM2600l at Bunnings (Australian Home Depot) for $349. Great value for money.

We have the same trimmer here in Australia it retails for AU $349.00 and very well made, a traditional 2 stroke worth every dollar,Regards one of your subscribers

Yeah its a good machine, There's other options out there like with everything. But I would say for the price, reliability and power of this trimmer its a good deal.

These are domestic machines only, have used two EM2600U's for about 4 years on our properties and one has stripped the drive shaft spline at the clutch drum end and I checked the other unit and it is also about to strip. The problem here is that they couple the engine to the drive tube with flexible rubber mounts which means the engine and the drive tube are not held rigidly together leaving the drive shaft spline continually moving at different angles in the clutch drum spline which eventually wears it out - poor design in my opinion. The second unit had a factory fault in the carby where they hadn't drilled a hole for the fuel, cant remember exactly where but it caused fuel starvation after it had been running for a short while, it shows they only do a very brief run test at the factory. Eventually found this by comparing the carbs from both machines, wouldn't expect this from Makita but there you go. The air filter is inadequate for dusty environments, it lets dust into the engine despite replacing the filters regularly. The gearbox on one unit was noisy almost from new despite regularly greasing it as recommended so pulled it down and found one of the bearings not fully seated from the factory resulting in poor meshing of the gears. Seated the bearing correctly and it now runs cool and silent. I should add that they do get worked pretty hard. Other than all that they are nice to use, light weight for an old codger like me and normally very easy to start but would I buy another one, probably not. Pimpinpenz, you obviously look after your Makita well.

Hi going to get one of these and must of my stuff runs on 40.1 fuel mix. Would it hurt to run this on 40.1 ? Or should I mix seprite 50.1 mix 👍
