It was sort of intentionally bad in the og- the creators were big fans of "cheesy teen romance"- but for one thing, there was more than one romance we actually had good reason to care about, and for another thing, the romances felt more prompted than forced (with exceptions). For Korra, there's only one romance consistently relevant throughout, and there's essentially no saving grace for it- the moments where it's arguably wholesome are a lot harder to argue as being wholesome than what we were given to work with in The Last Airbender.

One theory I heard was that, just as the world Korra lived in borderline didn't want her, the world this earthbander lives in may straight up be convinced it doesn't need an avatar, it's going to be an uphill battle for him for sure. I also heard he was gonna be a sandbender and idk why but something about that sounds so hype that I hope it's true. Sand bending is an aspect that did not get that much light shone on it so that focus could be put on the cooler looking side of earth bending, but a guy who can Earth bend like a water/air bender is such a cool and underrated concept

Avatar Asami sounds awesome tbh. Kinda reminds me a bit a reddit take I read a good while ago about how Asami looks like she might be a descendant of June the bounty huntress. We all know that Mako is a terrible boyfriend, but the one thing that bugs me about this is the fact that Mako & Bolin's grandmother was a new character named Yin, instead of Zuko's date Jin from the Tales of Ba Sing Se. She was such a sweetheart of a character, and I feel like that would have been a really nice call back to one of the best episodes in the original series.

@@iananedorez3961 while its tru its unrealistic to make every one connected somehow like some shows do, I think at least not bringing back some of the old side characters in even slight roles was a wasted opportunity. But personally I would have forgiven all of that if they had an old man Sokka. I think Old Man Sokka would have been the most interesting character. What would an older legendary unorthodox nonbender look like in the new world? A unique sword master? A sarcastic senile? A haikyuu master? A master tactician? An old boomerang enthusiast? So much potential... such a wasted opportunity...

Later he ends up dating Asami and pretty much uses her money to kickstart his career. They cheats on her and throws away his brother's dignity. And korra blamed mako for everything and destroyed his office then became surprised when he broke up with her. Then he starts dating Asami again(rip Asami's self respect) and blatantly cheats in front of her rather than saying korra you treated me like shit and I'm with Asami now. No he and korra shamelessly starts dating each other and expects everyone to support their stupid relationship. Bolin and Asami should have left their toxic group. Dirt belongs in the trash and and that's why mako and korra were perfect for each other.
