The project is not abandoned but scaled down from a port to a cruise terminal and the resized project is now valued at RM682 million from the initial reported figure of RM40 billion for the entire development of all four islands. According to Malaysian news, the project is expected to complete in Q3, 2026

If Indonesia and Malaysia can gang up narrow the Strait to 4 lanes and build toll gates to start collect toll fees... excuse is national security and environmental protection reasons....
