Let's assume Malaysia take on a RM80bil debt to build the ECRL. Upon completion the ECRL is valued at RM100 billion so the government has an equity of RM20bil or 20%. The interest to pay on the debt is RM 2.4 bil/annum while income that can be generated from such asset is RM5 bil/annum. So debt servicing ratio is 48%. This will be good and fine. So what would be the potential challenges? The biggest challenge would be to ensure stable and increasing income generation.

Asset Value - Debt = Equity. Based on what the video presented, Malaysia's equity appears to be quite high...so the key here is how well the asset hold or increase its value.

The foreign debt hold is in Ringgit. And Malaysia have A- rating in essence its security payment are qualified by asset management and Banks Treasury. So far outlook are stable although the political view been showing negative. The other matters swap ringgit with USD have potential for arbitraging so foreign may used as short term holding on ringgit.

Something is seriously wrong when Malaysia has abundant natural reserves like oil but is still languishing in the third world ladened with woeful debts when she should be as wealthy as a no. of Middle East countries. At one stage IMF even predicted Malaysia would reach First world status by 2008. So what’s wrong? Inspite of all the brave explanations by certain economists here, they dont add up to cover the truth … Obviously the reality is money goes into the pockets of the politicians, made worse by having to feed the 9 kings n their cronies, being the only country in the world having so many royalties. Hopefully the latest leader is able to turn the tables around.

Malaysia's debt is in local currency, Ringgit and considered as internal debt. This debt can be paid off using sukuk or bond. Do not mistake the debt as foreign debt denominated in US $. Malaysia foreign debt is less than $10billion. You can have 100billion debt in your local currency and be fine but the same thing can't be said if you have debt in $. The higher $ value is against your currency, the harder it is will be for you to service your loaned debt. This is why i said Pakatan Harapan politicians and supporters are bunch of idiots and sycophant parrots that lies to public.

Over the years, the politicians inflated the size of civil servants substantially and but also increased their salary despite their unproductivity. Secondly, Malaysia's population has grown from 20 million to 30 million in the past 22 years. Despite the population growth, a big portion of these increased population are very unproductive, they constantly ask for government assistance and they need a lot of subsidies from the government on daily nessasities such as petrol, flour, egg, and all kinds of food items.
