Phan here. Betong will always bring back fond memories of our travels there with friends from my LB days. We have visited there 3 times but from what i have seen from your videos nothing much have changed. Please convey my regards to Danny. I left LB not long after he left. Hope to see more of your food videos as they are a good guide for us to look for our favourite foods. Best regards from Phang.

Elmo, I really enjoy your channel and all the hard work you put into your videos. Thank you for the Betong video, I just came back from Hatyai and now after watching your Betong video. I will have to go check this place out. Great job. I was wondering if you can do a video on good food that is good value. I know of places that still keep prices low so clients can afford eating out.

It's a good discovery and it's also something different from the other episodes. I felt that it's a very refreshing place at this Betong Food Haunt chapter. I guessed the cookings are slightly oriented towards the South Thailand wind but still have our local flair infused to the food. What a spread of delicacies shown especially on the special dessert sold there. Yatt Lau !!! The Tilapia ( Fei Zhou ) fish looks invigorating - served steamed style with "pakyau yau ". Mou Tak Deng !!!! I would have to agree after tasting our local durian - it's difficut to accept the Thai Durians, it's just like comparing a buffalo calf with a mosquitoe leg. Thank you Elmo and (also to Danny) for showing us all these new frontier food and making it an enjoyable and mouth watering episode again !!!! 👌👌👌

Actually increase in price of food, especially hawkers, is due to greed. Fuel and utilities remain the same. Though raw food has slight increase, their prices are quite universal throughout the country. The only thing left would be rental. There's a vast difference in rental rates between shops to government warong. But have you notice? Prices for food ain't any different between hawkers food in a coffee shop or at a make shift MPPJ warong or any open stalls? And for the sake of comparison, there are still tons of hawker food in Penang island that are still charging RM5 a bowl. In Klang Valley, we don't get any eats below Rm9 ! The only difference in cost between these 2 cities is rental cost. And to be frank, real estate and rental in Klang Valley is down the hole at he moment. Does it make up so much in hawker food price? We are eating home week days. When we're out on weekends, we are very selective with where we'd eat. With the current pricing situation, we find ourselves eating more at proper Chinese restaurants rather than hawker food. The restaurants don't cost much more than hawkers these days while the nutritional value, cleanliness, service quality are all light years better than any hawker food.
