A little bit or red or green chilli...mustard, cumin cilantro, curry leaves will add zing to the dal. There are literally hundreds of varieties of dal in India. A little innovativeness and this can be made to taste better. 😊❤🌹 I am in love with the chef. Her cute accent, the Chinese looks, the dimple..have stolen my heart. 🌹❤😊

That's nice. Many Indians do slightly different way as we add herbs, curry leaves, dry chili and most importantly asafoetida powder after fry with ghee at last part after dhall, tomatoes, turmeric powder, garlic cooked well. Try n see. Definitely awesome.

Should take note that she is from Malaysia, and Malaysia is a multicultural place, so our food is kinda mix of all the cultures. You can find a bit of Malay accent in Chinese food, etc. So, it might be different from the original traditional dhal curry for Indians (not too sure how the real dhal curry is like).

I'm just wondering what's the difference in cooking this with curry leaves? Cause i don't have curry leaves in my local market. I'd have to make a special trip to an Indian market to acquire those. I do on the other hand have madras curry powder and it is a USA product. What's the difference between making this with curry leaves VS curry powder? and If i substitute chinese eggplant, will it taste much different?
@murphymukeshalungaram92538 жыл бұрын
Grace, just a suggestion. add some Baba's meat or seafood curry powder. The taste would be a little different, & also some Garam Masala powder.

Nice...This dhal gravy is more suitable for rice...dhal gravy for roti canai normaly cooked with potato and tomato...soak dhal n cook or pressure cook it with garlic , ginger pieces, slitted green chilis , potato, tomatoes ,turmeric powder and few drop of oil...cook till mushy...in other pan heat up some oil...fry some cumin seeds when it pops...add dried chili, curry leaves and onion fry till golden brown and pour it in cooked dhal add salt to taste n boil another 2 to 3 mins...Done

i think jason is not rude..only girls feel tht way. U see talk abt wat u saw on video ...she did not asked other recepi ...if you hv another style feel free to make a video n load on utube. Understand ? Here another example, ppl cm to your house eat then they start telling you another way of cooking (which they think it is better than yours) hw you gonna feel abt it ? Same thing here... So always remember, salt and advise never give till asked.

I forgot how close Malaysian cuisine is to Indian..now I did notice a comment below and I just want to add incase there is some confusion chana dhal is not yellow split peas they are different and I get asked this a lot..Yellow split peas will cook to a mush where as chana dhal will hold it's shape and texture for much longer..they have a much more earthy taste that yellow split peas..So I hope you can find chana dhal because it is superior for these kind of recipes

@gladonnet4 жыл бұрын
U must soak the dal well. U can also add some soda bicarb during the cooking. Do not add tomatoes or the sourness at the very beginning as this delays the dal cooking process. Trust me I am an Indian we prepare dals and other lentils practically everyday. If u want to make good tasting dal search for "chana dal fry " any north indian cooking channel will have the perfect recipe

Yeah, but you need to know, guys, that making a video alone where you talk non stop and cook the dish at the same time you might forgot to mention. I wonder, why is it called Dhall Curry but didn't used any curry powder/paste in the recipe ? Ermmm 😕
@sh3ikh46 жыл бұрын
Hi, it's more like dhal gravy instead of curry. In Malaysia, we don't have an English name for this. So I guess she just named the video dhal curry. We would just call it Dhal. When we go to a restaurant and we say we want Dhal for the roti canai/paratha, the waiter knows exactly what we mean.
@mypintuplate46426 жыл бұрын
Could be saltish as the salt poured in looks a lot. Is it not? Try adding fennel and cumin spice to it and a little milk too. Spice up but not a lot. A little on the other styles. Great cooking by you. Mypintuplate.com
