I thought this was only a common issue in Johor (Johorean here lol, Batu Pahat guy). You literally cant survive without your own method of transportation, which is buying a car or motorcycle (and being Chinese we are, we prefer cars over bikes cuz the latter is always a dangerous choice). Nice to see a quality Malaysian KZbinr on the rise, keep it up!

thank you for your support! Most of the Malaysians can't survive without a car~~~
Chance upon this channel and i must say it is very well written, produced and very informative. As a Singaporean, I've no idea MSIA has so many cars! Exact opposite of SG (i mean I'm sure everyone heard of our insane COE). Actually another issue with the pedestrian hostile infrastructure: it also discourages tourists from exploring a city like KL

Thank you for your support! The pedestrian infrastructure in Malaysia is really a nightmare, I think only foreigners can see this problem, sadly most of the locals thought that this is normal... In fact a bad pedestrian network will hurt the economy. Malaysia really need to learn from Singapore, a lot. However, even the COE in SG is expensive, but at least Singaporean can use the public transport, but a lot of fresh graduates in Malaysia need to take a car loan, just to get themselves to the office...

Yes as a Singaporean it's easier for us cause our pedestrian infrastructure is good

I travel to KL for business trip & I really appreciate the walkways and public transport we have in Singapore. I took the MTR in KL but gave up during peak hours and took grab.

Right?! It's not the locals like to complain, but they just not fulfils the basic need of pedestrians. TBH, grab is the lifesaver of Malaysians...

First time visited your channel. You are a wonderful orator with a great flair in your commentary. I’m most impressed with the research effort you put in and your narratives are so well presented. As a foreigner down south, I have a better understanding of the whys and whats surrounding the daily life of people in Malaysia after watching your media.

I am interested in the drainage system which causes frequent flooding when hit by a prolonged downpour. Traffic and public transport systems will take many years to see improvement. Let's see what happens to Johor by 2030 since govt is seriously putting in money.

The federal gov already provided funds for BRT system at Iskandar Region, let’s see how it goes especially interchange btw RTS. However, how is the pedestrian facilities at JB? And Yes, we will have an episode for Malaysia drainage system! Stay tune!

@@DJYinxHiLighter pedestrians is suffering from inconvenience and hoping for a better outcome. Even if we can have better walkway, don't think will have bicycle lane. Too congested to make good changes without major overhaul. infrastructures upgrading is not enough.
even with the improvement of MRT/LRT (rail-based public transport), public transport is still failing because bus networks/routes are very limited. If I can't walk home from a public transport stop/station or get there within reasonable walking distance/time, then I won't be able to properly use the public transport for an extended period of time. The fact that a neighbourhood I used to live in (USJ area) has cut down bus routes which made catching a bus even harder now, then I would either have to move somewhere else or just get a car. The fact that a metropolitan city is so utterly hostile to pedestrians is fatal to the development of public transport. Imagine being dropped off by a bus in the middle of a highway in Klang area... it was horrifying, to say the least. But for the people who cannot afford a car, that's their daily life. Apart from the issue of the chaotic bureaucratic structure governing the maintenance and planning of transportation networks, the private corporations running these public transport systems ignore the need to ensure the infrastructure and facilities surrounding the system. There needs to be better integration.
@gytan2221 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, lack of connectivity is a key problem. The nearest LRT station is more than 1 km from my house so I need to take the RapidKL bus… but the frequency of the bus services is just not great, it’s unreliable.
@DJYinxHiLighter Жыл бұрын
Exactly, I think the only solution is forcing the gov and civil servants to use public transport for daily basis, then they will know what is really going on. Their plan just not working man....
@CarlUsana-o3l Жыл бұрын
@gytan2221 Beam scooter is 1 of the perfect solution, now every station have parking. So many use it from home to mrt lrt. Just cost a bit high 😅 or e hailing if no car. For me i have own EUC or electric Unicycle as another option to the stations & fun way of travel for shorter distances. There is a community also for EUC. Our minister YB Loke is suggesting mini bus from Homes to the stations, in progress i think

ya, you maybe true...but as long as people can afford to own a car, there's still going continuously. Malaysia public transport infrastructure system not like Singapore, Hong Kong or others develop countries. I can tell you, being driving for more than 30 years, Malaysian public transport forever never get better than everyone's prefer driving cars because more convenience & off course safety and on top of that climate hot weather also another reason. The worst things is certain unethical & unlawful action done on taxi driver's overprice fares & many2 bad experiences story. Last but not least, "No matter how good or better integration or cheap ticket fare program...people still drive"! This is Malaysia BolehLand...😅What do you think about this?
@Armz69 Жыл бұрын
Ikr so true. Previously in the 90s there are a lot private bus companies to connect the dots but they monkeys be greedy, they drove those companies out of business and now they cut off the bus routes pulak. Genius evil monkeys. 🐒
@@DJYinxHiLighterDat is why in Singapore there no taller building next to MBS as this is part of the city planning to make MBS look great. City planning is very important. I stay at Pavillion Bayan Tree resort and the pool I went... there r no view but tall buildings around me. Will try W hotel next to check out the pool view. 😊
I think the two Cyberjaya MRT stations are prime examples of stations that are built as an afterthought. The Cyberjaya City Centre station is the closest, but also has no safe crossing from the other side of the closest road (the Limkokwing T junction has a traffic light that always allows cars going straight to pass). The Cyberjaya Utara station is far from the city and has nothing around it except for 1 isolated apartment complex. And millions of ringgits were spent building them. PS: thank you for providing English captions! 谢谢你们!
@DJYinxHiLighter Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your sharing. I just wondering, why many stations were built at no one land… did they ever think about walkability and pedestrian catchment? Let’s hope that the relevant department can understand the core issue of our metro system and build a better city that we can be proud of.
@dg-_-my Жыл бұрын
On top of that, Cyberjaya CC stations doesn't have car park for public at all. Where as the Cyberjaya Utara parking spaces are extremely limited as well. These MRT stations, be it location, infrastructure, or network integrations are mostly afterthought.

Hi, friend I think Putrajaya is also a disaster. There is lack of information about the transport between MRT station and tourism spots, also the schedule is not clear. As Putrajaya is supposed be a planned city, The experience I met reveal that public transport are not considered when planning. Although the MRT station is very modern, the infrastructure surrounded the station is still developed. The Malaysia government may need to consider the role of public transport.
@DJYinxHiLighter Жыл бұрын
@match2012 Putrajaya should have a BRT system. TBH the way they build this city is not quite pedestrian friendly though.

True, even this Mamak also caused the ringgit depreciating start from 1984 till now one SGD = 3.20 MYR So Malaysians are getting to live with higher cost of living without increase in quality of life and decrease in purchase of quality products and foods.
basically all the money to improve infrastructure goes to those politicians' pocket in the past.
