Malcolm Arnold : Concerto for harmonica and orchestra Op. 46 (1954)

Oh, now this is a gem of a Concerto, so distinctively Arnold with its idiosyncratic mood variations to the fore: poignancy, melodic eccentricity, dramatic climaxes and a delight in the process of composition. Adler's performance is, needless to say, brilliant while the orchestral accompaniment is rather breathtaking.
