Grew up watching Maldini & remember my father & uncle telling me to watch his play as I played as a full-back. In my opinion he was the best of all time at going to ground to win a tackle, something that I emulated as a defender to great success winning youth titles & awards. It is a forgotten art, people think now going to ground means committing yourself & taking a risk, Maldini could go to ground & spring back up, tackling is so much easier & more effective when you learn this technique.
