I’ve been married for ten years and what I noticed about single people in their 30s is that they don’t trust their potential partner. They are also picky. They talk about the little pet peeves when marriage/committed relationships has much bigger problems. Of course, you should still have standards, but also give someone a chance too. You’ll never fully know a person. I’m still learning new things about my husband everyday. So if you don’t trust or want to compromise, than you’re either not ready or have not met the right person yet. Regardless, take your time and enjoy your life.

I'm impressed you guys are really thinking about this and willing to share your views. I'm 52 yrs old and was married for 33 yrs to a wonderful man, we were like fire and ice. The classic opposites attract, but he knew how to melt my ice and I knew when to chill his fire. There was a lot of passion in the relationship, not just meaning sexual (there was a lot of that...lol) but passion for living life, discussing recent news, deciding on a home, a movie, etc., we challenged each other in a lot of ways and that made it exciting to wake up the next day with him to find out what we would do or talk about next. Unfortunately I lost him to cancer 2 yrs ago, but he was the best time I ever had. I believe finding someone who sparks your passion and challenges you to be better is important for a relationship, and you as a person, to grow. You guys are great! Thanks for letting me vent. ;)

There’s nothing wrong with wanting care from your loved one, Jason. In a relationship, it’s important that the girl pursues the guy and that the guy pursues the girl, also. Both should honor, respect, and care for one another. Once you are in a relationship, you are in one team. So both the girl and guy need to encourage and love each other. It’s draining being the only one doing the work.

I think there’s a difference between someone who is like you (same values) and someone who has had the same experiences. One doesn’t necessarily equal the other. Two people could have grown up in two totally different up cultures/languages/countries but when they talk about their lives they find out they went through a lot of similar issues and life situations and can understand each other despite differences in the fact pattern. Or two people could grow up with the same cultural background and have similar life experiences, but they end up with completely different goals and personal values. I think it’s best to look for a partner who is “like you” on the inside, because the outside matters less than you might suppose :)

I feel like I’m watching bromance instead of an interview type of video lol. Dating wise, I’m in my mid 20s and I’m already seeing things differently compared to my earlier 20s. I used to qualify dates primarily on how much merit they have (education, work, personality, looks, niceness, ambition, etc.) and how much I like them (and also how much people around might like them). Nowadays, those things are secondary to how respectful this man treats me and also himself (I’ve had some people treating me well at their own expense of well-being, that’s not very healthy). I’d say dating changes as we grow, for both men and women ;) Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Definitely need a podcast. I’m the same boat, just turned 30, and dating becomes a bit “harder”. There are still many things I want to accomplish in life but it is hard to find someone that understands and is supportive. At least in my case the other person expects me to make them my world or the other way around and it’s not healthy! I don’t want to be someone’s world, rather someone that appreciates and respects my individuality and helps me grow, and I will do the same. Someone that shares the same principals and values as I do regardless or their race, and is willing to create a world with me...There has to be a balance and unfortunately haven’t found that yet. I’m glad I found this channel, it is nice to hear the male perspective from people the same age as me. Anyways, keep on posting! definitely subscribing to this channel ☺️

For a long term relationship, I would say that ,yes loyalty is important and compromise too. Don’t forget that nothing is taken for granted in life!! For example, a lamp need to be refilled every time if you want to keep the flame alive ,same in your relationship. Even if you got married, have children, busy , you have to remember why you have chosen this person.

Yeah I'm 29 in NYC, and I can have all these "standards" I want in someone, but I've gone on dates with people who on paper have all of those things, but the vibe is so wrong. It's exhausting lol. I think, annoyingly, it comes down to just luck of meeting someone who you can connect with on that "it just feels right" level, which may mean they don't fit some of those standards you originally "wanted". Which for me is what is hard to come to terms with, because frankly I don't wanna waste more time dating people who don't seem like the right fit, but then I think I'm being too stringent with what I'm looking for and potentially missing someone that would be good for me...sigh. And as for wanting to be chased--if someone is too aloof, it's such a turnoff. I don't need to be chased and fawned over, but just make it clear that you like me and want to see me, damn...*has war flashbacks*

The good guy method may not work at first but trust you will get the girl in the end. She will realize after she goes through her bad boy stage and broken heart. The good guy may finish last but he still finishes and if the girl doesn’t reciprocate than she isn’t ready for a good catch when it’s right in front of her. Still have standards because you deserve the best. Always give your all and your heart because that’s a life of no regret. You guys mean well and the right person will come along who is ready and willing to appreciate all you have to give. Blessings!

I think this is more of a movie trope than a thing that really happens that commonly irl. Movies written by men where a woman is a prize you win by completing your quest and saving her from her poor partner choices lol. Most women ime generally like someone who's kind to them plus other individual standards they have, even at a younger age. I think this whole nice guy/good guy and bad boy dichotomy needs to die because it breeds a lot of toxicity and in reality I guess most men are a bit of both, as are humans in general. I hope I don't sound like I'm picking a fight, it's just sharing a different viewpoint.

@@tonymoy8808 I think the majority of Jbro viewers are women, and I think we need to hear men's perspectives on love, and not the other way around, because women's definitions and perspectives on love can vary and cannot be represented by just one person, or just a few, because women are full of emotions and like to use feelings in everything, because of that the opinion of one or several women cannot represent many other women, but it is different if we hear the definition of love from the perspective of men ... men are very rational so that their perspectives and opinions can represent many men in general.

"How she treats me" isn't a shelfish answer it can go both ways. I have seen couples who have it all and who are seemly perfect on the outside but dread going home to their spouses. They feel unappreciated and demeaned which causes resentment and makes the relationship more of a chore/contract than an actual relationship.

I agree, I actually think Jason's answer is so dead on at least from my perspective now being in my mid-30s. I was all about the looks and how my friends would perceive me and my partner, but now I think what's so much more important is how they treat you and how that makes you feel. How they respect you, support you and help you both grow together in a relationship is so much more valuable and important in my book. I very much appreciate him calling that out.

The most important thing to look for in a long term partner for me, is similar values..whether you are building a family, how u treat your family and friends, raising a child, dealing with work, loving life etc. Moving forward on common ground. Yet sparks with surprises in the relationship to keep the fire burnin.. But I always remember: that we're Same Same, but Different.

Your mom is right! 😂 Nobody is perfect including yourself. I find imperfections of one can be attractive points to another. Personally I find a perfect person is too much to handle and sometimes I would be under so much pressure to meet that standard. To be honest, you should go with the flow and find someone you're comfortable with. Speaking of physical traits, women become more pretty when they age because maturity and experience can boost their physical traits. Best wishes to you guys! Again, go with the flow! 😊😊😊

For sure seeing someone passionate and working hard to achieve their dreams is a major turn on. I think it's natural to be more cautious about expressing too much interest as we age but it also makes it harder to gauge how interested the other party is. I have always gone back and forth between whether dating someone in healthcare would be better as they have gone through similar career experience or if dating someone outside would provide a better work-life delineation.
@xangraneko2290

This was an insightful video. I like the content. As someone who's in your age group and has gone through some dating experiences, starting to value other things in a relationship or the beginning of a relationship is understandable. Also the nice guy chase as you mentioned it being too fawning, if there's no attraction or interest from the other side, it definitely comes off as creepy and annoying. I like how Jason phrased his differences between dating in 20s and 30s, it's more specific and certainly shows the shift in perspectives as we grow... "older". John's comment about his mom thinking he's looking for a perfect person hits home as well. Not just my mom, but almost everyone else think I'm just looking for a "perfect" person, when all I want is to find someone to connect to on the same page/compatibility/same values etc. etc. Anyway, I can see where both of you are going with your video so I'm definitely interested in the other parts. Thanks for filming this.

Not really, but I appreciate it when my crush gives me a signal that he likes me too, not in an exaggerated way, but it should still be a sign that he likes me too, and I don't do this like a fool. If we get chased by someone we don't like at all, I don't think anyone likes it, it's not like we don't have feelings or anything but if we're basically not interested in them ... then it's useless. it would be better if we tell the truth ... and make them understand than having to waste the person's time and just play with their feelings 😟

My parents didn't really give me that talk as a teen or young adult. I'm now in my 30's and I now get what the purpose is. Shared values, morals, faith come first to me and most definitely a person's character. If they treat my parents wonderful they will have my heart💜 Family is life.

@@JBRODUCTION ha. the opposite happened to me in my twenties! I was fast asleep warm in my bed. a cute girl i know called me from a party drunk and said she needed to leave and that she was outside the house and lost and thought she was gonna get attacked. I was pissed but still went to pick her ass up because i was a gentleman (i was basically just like John then. the uber nice guy). Then instead of dropping her off at her house, she wanted to just come over and sleep because my place was closer or something. so she came to my house and plopped on my bed and fell asleep! i went back to sleep on the far side of the bed and in the middle of the night she grabbed me and said " 넌 내 꺼야!" and tried to kiss me!... I was like. WTH? anyway. I didn't sleep well and she woke up guilty in the morning (nothing happened by the way). I dropped her off at the her office (some venture capital firm in silicon valley) and went on my way. The story isn't over. I found her lipstick at my place, so I called her and left her a voicemail asking her to pick up her lipstick. Well, this is where things get serious. Some dude calls me out of the blue from michigan. Says he was her BF and is wondering why her lipstick is at my place!! holy sheeet! Apparently he has access to her voicemail. Anyway, I explain the whole thing, except the part where she tried to drunk jump me. I lied and said I slept on the floor (i'm not sleeping on the floor in my own gd place). In the end he said I sounded like a nice guy and that he didn't have any hard feelings. I called her up and was like "WTF! I didn't know you had a BF! What were you thinking!" The apologies flowed like a river. needless to say, i never saw or heard from her again. puhahaha.

Your perspective will probably continue to change as you age. Your views on your future partner will be different in your 40’s (if you’re still single, that is) than what it is now. IMHO, the two most important things to look for in a partner is compatibility and values. 😊 Thanks for a fun video!

Great conversation guys! Def a must watch for young adults who are navegating the dating world and can be mislead to focus on a lot of unimportant things and miss red flags! I too tend to give a lot into a relationship and one thing that has changed for me over the years is that I put friendship before relationship.I won’t date someone I don’t already know well enough and call a friend.I find that this helps a lot with the issue of reciprocity. 👏🏽👏🏽!!

🌟 I agree with Johns mom & the advice she gave. I’ve always gotten the vibe that he’s seeking “perfection” and that’s he’s closed minded regarding certain things and it shows. Compatibility is a term that’s overly used when discussing an ideal partner. It’s cute to want someone that’s into everything that you enjoy, have the same beliefs, & in the same career field...that sh!t will get old quick! You will quickly feel as though work is overflowing into your personal life and that you do not have space or time to yourself because your partner is into every activity, work, & social circles that you’re in. They will become your friend not your lover. Jason, I agree 💯% regarding your time and efforts being valued and respected! That’s very very important!

Very honest video, I liked it. It’s the same for Women in their thirties too. I started my thirties this year so I connect with all of what you guys talk about, how now I know what I’m looking in a relationship and stuff like that. Well I guess with the pandemic going on is even more harder to date (at least to me) and it’s gonna take more time for us people who are single to find a boyfriend (or girlfriend). I agree completely with how you find it easier to talk to people who work in healthcare (when you work in healthcare) I can literally talk to other people in healthcare for hours 😅

So sweet that your picked the girl up from the jersey house party and brought her meds when she was sick! It didn't work because she wasn't the right person, who didn't appreciate your thoughtfulness. Doesn't mean that you should stop doing that for future women. There was nothing wrong with your behavior.

I am truly loving this video guys! I love your videos because it allows us to think about relationship matters. Something we can all learn and gain from. Jason thanks for bringing up the importance "on being treated" in a relationship. I have seen relationships fail because of how some couples or one person in a relationship would negatively treat each other or the other partner. I myself can't and don't tolerate disrespect, toxicity, and any form of abuse and manipulation. And I also like how Dr. Yoo emphasized on how he possibly sees himself being in a relationship with someone who has the same passions and field (dentistry, medical)... And I agree with you on that too Dr. Yoo! Go for what truly matters to you because happiness is number one! But I also have come to the realization in life that it is okay to be open to meeting different people, even opposite of what he had hoped for because we just never know we might find potential in any of them and just maybe the perfect and/or right match. Have a great weekend guys!!!

12:16 right right i used to think 'opposites attract' bc that's what people always say but as john said i find that long term friendships/relationships work out so much better when both people share the same values/beliefs. and as john touched upon, that's why your bromance has never died down right? oh i just noticed this (im quite slow, i admit)--is it a coincidence that bromance and broccoli both begin with 'bro'??

With the recent influx of relationship videos bashing women (and men), I found the perspectives shared in this video really refreshing. I do think that as you get older and you mature, you begin to appreciate other things that were otherwise deemed unimportant in the dating scene before. Personally, I enjoy being “courted” (probably cause I’m a Latina haha) but not chased. Chasing is unhealthy, I feel like at some point things have to become reciprocal for the relationship to work. Thanks for sharing your views on this topic! Greetings from 🇨🇴.

What! I don't think going all out at the beginning is a bad thing, ahaha! I love a thoughtful, considerate gentleman 100%! I think it's only "too much" when a girl has high expectations that it's something they should expect out of a partner for the rest of their lives - but no, it doesn't work that way, for many reasons. Not to say guys won't do that anymore after being in a long-term relationship, but a partner shouldn't be expected to do that for you, forever and always. I always think of love as something transformative: passionate love (the "heightened") -> comfortable love (the "plateau") -> familial/deep love (the "consistent"). Generally, with that mindset, I'm less disappointed and consistently happy! :)

My 33 self dilemma. At 20’s dating seemed to be simpler but at 30’s where you have different perspectives on a partner everything is more complicated and frustrating in addition that millennial dating is screwed up. Btw i love everything about this vid. It’s the same conversation we had last night with my friends. It answers our question why it’s difficult to find a partner at 30’s. Guys are getting cautious too🤔

Most girls like a challenge so guys, don’t give your all in the beginning. Leave a bit of a mystery. Don’t be available all the time. Same goes with girls. I guess you could say it goes both ways. When you eventually get married, you’ll be seeing each other 24/7. Advice from a married woman. I got married at 32. I enjoyed my 20’s before settling down so there were no regrets, marriage is a joy.👍🏻

I think people have standards and want a lot of things or look for certain beauty/characteristics but love isn’t at all like that. It’s a lot of hard work after that(which people may not know of) and trying to see the same vision being built together in their futures. I wouldn’t know either, I wished I knew so I can be a better guide/mentor towards others but I crashed and went with it.

I think the best way is to treat them how THEY want to be treated. With someone you don't know much that can be difficult/impossible, but in a long-term relationship you have to try not to assume that the other person wants what you would want, you have to figure out and communicate about what THEY would want, and sometimes their wants and needs change so you have to continue learning about them. At least that's my experience.

Oh wow that was really insightful. Im 33 and sometimes there are moments wherein I feel insecure that Im not at a level of success that people expect me to be even though Im actually happy. With what Jason said about pursuing passions with humility, made me feel refreshed to hear that. And also by human nature I think initially we do get attracted by looks but real attraction happens when you start to see the person as you get to know them. Sadly though in today's culture people dont even try to get pass just the physical looks to give themselves a chance to actually build connection. Looking forward to more videos!

After I finally watched it I was surprised!!! They were just talking about some of their awkward moments in their early 20’s like everyone might do. He was just trying to persuade us that nobody is perfect and why is so hard to find the one who is right for u. Everyone is trying to find a person who has the same values but it has to be mutual:) Hope everyone who watched this video will find their loved ones^ ^

The giving too much at first is overwhelming for me. This nice guy that I was going on a blind date with was giving these expensive restaurant suggestions. I suggested a regular restaurant. He kept on wanting to buy me things at this nice candy shop that we went to. And just was going over the top. On our 2nd blind date he suggested this really fancy place as well. The app had his occupation, and it wasn't one where he was making bank. So, I knew he was a middle class guy trying to do fancy things. I think those nice places are good for special occasions, but not just for a first date. I rather the guy be chill and reserved at first. Once he is my bf then we can do fancy things once in a while. And then I would love it it they brought me nice chocolate with my name on it and all. But, not when I have only known you for less than 2 hrs..... I had a co-worker that used to do that with his blind dates. I knew the salaries of those positions and knew that he can't keep that up. He said that he would spend 300 dollars per date....He was a nice guy. I told him that I want the girl to like him for him, and not because he does fancy things for them. He said that he likes to go all out...I feel that that was the guy I went out with was trying to do with me. But, to me that is an insult because I am not materialistic like that.
