I can't help but think of Agartha in Fate/Grand Order. The protagonist being female would dramatically change how that plot would go, but if you're playing as the female protagonist option your gender is largely ignored. Which is very strange, since plenty of other plots in the game acknowledge your gender if it's relevant. It's one of the reasons Agartha is generally considered the worst plotline in F/GO.

Reminds me of how in one event, the protagonist was barred from bathing with the rest of the female characters (from what I remember, it was a summer event on an island), and while this makes sense for the male protagonist…why the hell would the female protagonist not be able to bathe with other women? Sometimes I wish they didn’t even bother giving you an option, since it doesn’t really affect anything at all. But I can’t imagine Gudako not existing, so there’s that I suppose

@@wutduck1763 I've seen so much Gudako fanart that I sometimes have to do a double-take when I see Gudao outside of the anime. It doesn't help that the two best manga adaptations of Singularities that currently don't have animated adaptations star Gudako and give her SUCH GOOD characterization especially compared to the damp waffle they made Gudao in the Camelot movie.

@@Cyberweasel89 TRUTH!! I love Gudako with all my heart, and it’s sad that she feels neglected in a sense in the actual game. I personally think Gudao has nothing on her, especially since his characterization outside of the game feels so milquetoast in comparison. Doesn’t help that his design falls into the trap many other male mcs suffer from. All this to say, Gudako is awesome but I wish there was some effort in putting SOME sort of a difference between the two in the game, even if it’s minor. The dialogue isn’t voiced in cutscenes, so you’d think it’d be easier to adjust it but…

@@wutduck1763 100% agreed! It doesn't help that I'm face blind so having a more distinct appearance makes Gudako stand out more to me. It's easier when the protagonist has a more identifable look that stands out from the other character, and that bright orange ponytail provides the contrast I need. It's like wearing a bright yellow safety vest in the dark. XD Compared to Camelot's damp waffle, I think Bablyonia TRIED to give Gudao a bit of agency and personality... I just think it fell too far into the milquetoast area. Aside from his idolization of Ushiwakamaru, some cute shipping moments with Mash, and the final conversation with Tiamat, not much stuck out to me, though it was still more than the nothingburger we got in the Camelot movies. Though in their defense, Camelot Singularity really IS more Mash's show, but they could've at least had Gudao more involved with Mash during her development, either as emotional support or her male!damsel to protect. If you ever want to read the Shimousa or Salem manga, I can't recommend them enough. Both have a different, but equally great depiction of Gudako when most of the manga stick her to comedy roles. There's more Mash yuri shipping moments in Salem but Shimousa gives Gudako more agency, helps her keep up by revealing she's athletic from being on her high school's volleyball team, and gives her a good-natured teasing tendency that plays off of Musashi really well. Apparently the manga "Fate/Grand Order Duel: YA Singularity Secret Room Play Magical Border Shibuya" also uses Gudako as the default protagonist but I've been unable to find it. I really hope for an animated non-parody F/GO adaptation of some sort to come out that features Gudako because it was an absolute joy seeing Lizzie Freeman voice Gudako in the Fate/Grand Carnival dub and I've love to see her show her chops in a Shimousa or Salem adaptation that takes cues from the manga.

Because for some reason Hoyo made the "genius" decision to force you to start as the female Dreamseeker with no choice beforehand. You can change to the male Dreamseeker at his apartment after interacting with the mirror. You can also use this to change Dreamseeker's name, too.
