I've had both male and female Shepherds. This video is correct. My male was very shy around people he didn't know. My female was like a Lab. However I was able to train my male better then my female. Not sure why. Both respected me but my female was more high strung. My male more reserved and looked at how I responded. Regardless of if you pick male or female remember this training. NILIF nothing in life is free. Everything is a reward. You walk though doors before him/her. Good luck.

It all come down to the handler. Your dog should be an extension of yourself. After having 3 female gsd and 2 males. I can say it’s the complete opposite from what the video is saying. The males were more lovable and and more willing to please. The females were more stubborn and harder to train.

I was always told that female German shepherds were best if you have children and you need a good watch dog. They are naturally maternal and because of that instinct they are better watch dogs. Essentially they protect their human kids as they would their pups. Is this not true?

I've found both sexes to be super protective due to their herding instinct. This trait still lies in their genes.There is no dog more loyal and protective than a German Shepherd.
