Hey zak, your awesome man. I tried to start your new interloper run with you, probably old to you, but your 500 series, and ive got it to where I load the same spawn and follow you and one time I got to day 46. The only differenve in our play, even when I follow your play region to region, is you dont ever stop, and that is what I did, amd it got to the point I coukd barely hatchet furs and not freeze to death, but I have watched your first few videos on your run and have tried to spawn where and when and you get to like day 8 where im at day 18. An easy solution to the painkiller problem would be for cures to only prompt issues they can cure. So painkillers would ask you which pain you would want to cure. So if you had 2 sprains, you would still need 2 doses of painkillers for the pain, but there is no chance of accidentally trying to cure the sprain itself
@jonnytarr68216 ай бұрын
1:11:01 The “what do you want to cure?” mechanic for painkillers is definitely weird. Umm, it’s in the name! 😂 Seems like it should be easy enough for the game to filter / only display the suitable conditions to cure. I completely agree with the stuff about rose hip tea. I think it would be better if there was some way mechanically to “learn” what does what (maybe similar to reading but slightly more accessible in the early game) like how rose hip tea is a painkiller and rieshi is an antibiotic, that way there’s not that strange way of taking medicine/drinking tea that has a use but does nothing because you didn’t technically use the right prompt

I disagree with you about the clothing, You mostly say it's useless (mostly in episode 1). IMO it is very useful to get very good clothing as fast as possible (depending on your 2nd affliction, I think double insulation layer from day 6ish will be meta). In the mid game, it will help you sleep in caves without any fire (with upgraded bedroll), saving lots of ressources. Frigid bones makes it even more important to have the best clothing you can as you lose time making more fires, staying longer at each fire to warm up. You need to drink so many teas with poor clothing, that you spend a lot of time collecting/crafting those teas. And when you get "haunted mind" affliction, it really begins to be a game changer to get the best clothing possible. Health regeneration at night it really low (as you no longer get those crazy buffs from sleeping hours 8 to 10). To summerize, learn Ptarmigans spawns very early game (+1 sewing kit + some cloth). For mid game, learn as many birch bark locations as possible as it's the best way to still be able to use HP as a ressource before "broken bones" kicks in. On a side note, I do like your plan. I do it very differently, going to the gold mine and Summit only late days 30's, early 40's. I might get ideas from you on my next run ! Edit: coal spawn locations are also going to be very important to master !

1:07:39 This really kills my immersion. Same goes for painkiller. If you have multiple and therefore "more severe" pain then you should just have to take more painkillers, but the fact that you can use painkiller on the wrong thing and then it just doesn't do anything is stupid. So I'm day 50 on misery. To be honest it wasn't that hard. This is my first run at misery and I made it to 50 days pretty easily. I've played this game for a long time. I know maps like the back of my hand. So you start in PV. Hit a few key loot spots then off to AC for backpack and crampons, picked up combat pants at homesteaders on the way. Then to TWM summit where I got a hacksaw so I could loot up there. From there I bee lined to ML. Got a bedroll. Then I went straight for HRV for hammer and mackinaw. From there to Broken Railroad to forge. By the time I got to broken railroad I had a mackinaw and urban parka, 2pairs of combat pants, 2 underwear, 2 wool socks, 2 wool sweaters, and 2 improvised insulation. Plus a whole ton of cat tails and food, lots of flour, oil, salt. I was heavy but stocked. Think I got to BR about day 35. Made my bow and arrows and a knife. By this time I had sour stomach and was getting food poison often so i started burning through food. Bagged 4 wolf for a coat. Went and 1 shot the moose to the head, then 1 shot the bear. (I was so on point this game). I swear there's like 15-20 wolves at once out there. Decidedl to hunker down and wait for hides to cure. Day 47 I have my wolf coat and moose satchel. Plus I get broken bones. I have about 80% health. Continuing on from this point is pretty much pointless. The environment is such that you can't really travel without losing some health which means I figure I have another 3 days to play if it decide to travel. Or I whole up at BR which will suck cause there's not much food and you can't eat wolf meat. Guess we'll see what happens.

so instead of adding more content to the game, more crafting recipes etc, all they did was to add new mode which will ruin any fun from the game after 5 affliction... great idea, why add more places to cook food at the fireplaces, why add the possibility to craft crude spear or low quality of clothes and make you start naked etc, why give the ability to start fire like real survivalist can, why add any of actual content to the game, lets just add more "story mode" nobody cares for and some useless modes which everyone can do himself in custom mode btw i love when people make mods with more content in it than the actual game has now, its hilarious this game should have mode when you play like an actual survivalist will, make fire without any tools, like they do if needed, craft any clothes from materials you can find or get from animals, craft tools forever cause if there was 1 mine with coal then the resources there will last forever for 1 person, just 1 trolley full of coal will last forever in this game i have the thought that after you look what modders did, you get more ideas of what that game lacks than devs has

tbh playing that game with weight capacity below 40 is already annoying, having any affliction which reduce that is infuriating, they should do something with clothes weight when you wear them (mean reduce it by a lot)

"Rheumatic joints", especially killed all the entertainment value for me.. others are somehow managable however annoying they are.. but taking away sprinting ability completely from a player is just bad design.. might as well play as a 80 year old man with a cane in his hand.. the same thing... BTW, the survival mode of this game needs a proper ending before anything else you could add.. the premise "how long can you survive" is the sole reason that discourages me from playing more than 150-200 days on a run.. it should instead be "can you survive till you actually make it alive out this island?".. put an ending like the one in the Hopeless Rescue challenge, but link it to the tales and some other secrets to uncover first.. or, lead the player to a broken boat and give an objective to repair it with intense and far complex crafting requirements.. that would make surviving so much more meaningful..

@@seckino82This game isn’t supposed to be like other survival games. It’s a different thing. If you could craft a spear, then why would you ever make a bow? It ruins the progression. If you could leave great bear, then why would people conserve resources for the long run? I kinda think story mode could be improved though.

@jericho5655 that is the actually the biggest problem of this game.. trying to be different than other games in a "misguided" way.. When did I say you should be able to craft x and y in 50 days or so and finish the game immediately?.. I'm talking about a really drawn out sequence where your preparation should take 200-300 days at least.. so none of that hoarded stuff for late would be wasted.. you would need every resource you can pile up until the time comes for you to escape/be rescued.. is it really that hard to understand?..

@@seckino82 I guess I misinterpreted what you meant with that.
