Lol took me 8 hours for my figma low fi prototype. True novices going through this course in a week is simply unfathomable . I went into this thinking it was going to be about cute fonts and color gradients however this course is not for lazy people. He is right there were a huge number of enrollments and now there are less than a few thousand that truly continue after the 1st one. I just finished course 3 and I’m now in course 4 and it is very challenging. I look at my work from just two months ago and already I see the huge improvements. I would say so far I love it.

One of the things that I actually don't like in this course (I'm currently enrolled in 3rd course) is peer reviews. In the beginning, I thought that my projects/assignments and progress will be reviewed by professionals/experienced ux designers, but, instead, people like me who have no experience "judge" my progress. Also, as you mentioned, there are a lot of people who don't really take the course seriously, so how can I be sure that somebody actually took the time to check my submissions and come up with some recommendations. When I noticed this (lazy/unmotivated/here for certificate only people) tendency I kind of lost my interest for a bit, but then I decided to continue for myself, still trying to give 100% to assignments, reading extra material. I just hope that people who show off their certificates without really studying won't hurt too much the way recruiters/hr/companies look at other students of this course who take it seriously.
@MalewiczHype2 жыл бұрын
That's one of the reasons I'm doing reviews of projects in my course myself, as it's really a bad approach for beginner courses.

The reason why Coursera randomises the options is because a lot of people blindly selects the the first option without reading the question or viewing the submission. It is like a form which is intentionally made hard to fill, so that we are conscious about the information. P.S. Even I hate this system.

That may be right, but I did review the submissions and for me that grading experience was frustrating.

I have been working as a UX designer for roughly 9 years now. I have gone through extensive training, study, NN/g certifications ect... But the topic of getting the Google-UX-Design certificate came up. Looking through the course it seems like a great start for a designer wanting to transition into UX, but, for me, a lot of it seems like it'd be a refresher. So my question to all of you, would enrolling be worth it for the certification? Does the certification carry weight above and beyond the learning aspect?

I am currently in the first section of the course. But about to start the second section. I really like the reviews you are doing, and I feel rather validated for deciding I wanted more then what google put out as a course and buying books on the topic. Currently I am reading UX Design 2020 by Theo Farrington. And the next book is going to be The Laws of Ux by Jon Yablonski. Obviously I am also searching youtube for more information or I wouldn't be here. I am just curious if there are some resources I am neglecting that I could benefit from?

Hello Sir ! Thank you for these reviews. I started this certification and stopped. I was thinking that the number of people participating was huge. Now I have a question, not a joke. I speak French natively with some basics in English. For the first week of this Google certificate, I used Google translate. Do you think it would be wise to continue this way. Or would you advise me to stop and take time to learn English before.
@MalewiczHype3 жыл бұрын
I think it will get a bit more complex the more you're into the course, so not sure Google Translate will be enough to complete all assignments well. I'd say it's risky and maybe better to learn English a little better (even slightly). Good luck!

In my opinion if you truly want to you can do it. I speak Spanish which has some grammar similarities with French and before I knew English I used to use Google translate for everything I did. The formatting in the English grammar is different from ours. Buy if you understand how the grammar in English work then you can do it. I don't know about UX but I used to take courses in Medicine and they were hard but I made it. I know now English but I had my fair share of Google Translate and back in the day was way more difficult. Google translate has improved a lot since. Of course you can wait as well. But I just wanted to tell you my experience with it.
