Yeah we tested it on a large group of designers and the responses were like 30% higher. Then we tested it on some freelance clients and with a similar result. Before people click on a link to get out of the email client it’s good to show them something “interesting” so they’re compelled to click :) Of course it has to be readable (so they see exactly what the visual is about) and looking good :)

Good question, I may add it in a future video, but for now: You need at least 3 case studies and you can have a couple of UI works separately just to browse your UI skills (without a case study). But even for purely UI work try to at least write those UI related parts of a case study (fonts, colors, how you set up the grid etc)

Greetings, Malewicz! I recently found your channel and what can I say: the stuff you put out is tremendously helpful for me as a beginner. Can you help me understand one thing: when you are talking about 3-5 projects in a portfolio, how many pages of the said project should be there? Should it have like 10-15 screens each? I am asking this question, because I have this frustrating feeling (not an educated fact, just a feeling) that you have to do so many things to "impress" a recruiter and to do it with such quality, that you shouldn't apply for a junior position at this point (and I speak from salary stand point mostly). Because if you can make things to look so smooth and terrific in terms of UX/UI while applying as a junior, then isn't the just an illogical and, quite frankly, inadequate from a potential employer perspective to be this demanding? I might completely misunderstand things, because i don't have a commercial experience in this field though. Would be thanful for your answer. Cheers!
@MalewiczHype2 жыл бұрын
Generally 3-5 projects with around 10 screens each is fine, some can have 3-5 screens too, but definitely not projects with 1 screen as you need to write a little bit more about the screens and with one there's not much to show. I made a course on creating those case studies this year that helped a lot of people fill the knowledge gaps and get the job :) You don't need to be smooth and terrific yet, it's more about a wholesome package - so the recruiters see that you know how to do some UI (that's well aligned and has good contrasts, typography) even if it's not beautiful yet, and you can write a case study about it.

Thank you very much for this video, what would you suggest to a UX Researcher who does not actually build something to show in his portfolio and has constraint for discussing his research process and results because of non-disclosure agreement?
@MalewiczHype2 жыл бұрын
I need to look a bit more into this but there are definitely some obvious rules: 1. present your data in a beautiful way 2. make small research projects even as twitter surveys and analyse them - it can be for an existing products 3. But always treat your research as a visual story - just like a regular design portfolio, just use data and possibly some mockups to highlight how that data affects design

Hiii, great video and greaaat tips! Some points are so obvious yet...😅 thanks! I do have a question tho: What if you are "just" a UX designer? not UI. How do I work around the eye-catching mockups? Also: I used to have the website, which got me a job, but recently I was wondering: If I am a UX designer who prototypes in Figma - would it make sense to have an interactive figma file and share the link? problem is that it won't be responsive so 🤞🏻 they won't open it on mobile, but I thought it could be an amazing way to show off the prototyping skills. thoughts?
@MalewiczHype2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dominika, that's a good question - let's say your work ends on low-fidelity wireframes and flows, right? Well even if your lo-fi sketches are just pen and paper, I believe you can still present them well (made a course called how to present your work that also shows how to present data, how to "wrap" visually low fidelities and more) - so there's no need to always have beautiful UI's but what you have should have a beautiful presentation anyway :) As for your other question - yes, but as a link from within a case study only - people don't really like to be taken somewhere without making a conscious decision to do so, especially to a prototype they're not familiar with - it's a nice to have in the case study itself, or what you can do is record a part of your screen with the prototype as video of going through it and add that to the portfolio in a mockup (phone or computer) - that way you show the flow to people viewing the portfolio yet they don't have to do any clicking :)
@moragdominika2 жыл бұрын
@@MalewiczHype heej! thanks for the answer. it makes sense, I would loove to see some good examples of presenting wireframes in a beautiful way. The second question: I was thinking about having a prototype instead of a website. meaning my own website just as a prototype rather than coded one 🤔
