I have read the first 2 books of The Bloodsworn Saga, which were epic (just purchased the last one of the trilogy), and i fell in love with John Gwynne's writing. The strength of the characters, both male and female, is amazing. I plan to move on to Malice soon.

Books 2 on have a cast of characters in the front which helped me a lot. Also, yes, there are more female points of view in the next three books but honestly, they all could have been a bit more fleshed out. They step above "side character" but they never felt up to main character level. I liked them all though. They aren't foils or plot devices for male characters necessarily IMO. There's a wholesomeness in the interrelationships that I was not expecting but really enjoyed. Friends care about friends, family cares about family.

oh yay that's nice to hear regarding the cast of characters. I'm glad there are more female characters but yeah it seems like his newer series does better with female characters overall than this one.

Malice is the weakest for sure. There are more females going forward. His female characters improve over time too. Be prepared because Valor amps up the pacing.
