Your videos are so helpful. I’m a non traditional candidate IMG with US citizenship but in a European country with permanent residency as I’m married to a foreign national and am about to start medical school with the goal of coming back home to the US to practice. Would it be possible to have a video with someone who is a US IMG, perhaps from a non Caribbean school with a unique back story? Sometimes I think FMG/non US IMG might have an advantage in some respects to US IMGs. Could you discuss the differences in experiences? Thank you so much.

To be able to do so many years of research in US, how to get funding during this time?
@sayonarawildheart94543 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video Dr. Malke. Do you think that doing a research in my country (i.e., outside of US) will have an impact on my CV? even if it has the tinniest effect on it, please let me know. Because I want to take a research position while in medical school and I don't know if it will be just a waste of my time.

Hi Dear, Every time I watch Your Video, I start to dream. Matching in residency is a tedious process. I would want you to make one video for those who got unmatched in the first or second attempt, how could they boost their CV and can become a competitive applicant for the consecutive match process.I beleive that would help us to prepare for dealing in the worst secnario.People would not limit their dreams and would have enough courage to work harder to see them in their deram position.Thanks a lot for all of your Videos.

It is harder for people to share their experiences publicly on KZbin when they don't match. But I am making a video about a similar topic.

Dr. Malke , i wanna ask you about the research , when and where should i do it ? , is it mandatory to do it usa , can i do in my country ? Should i do it when I'm in the college during summer holidays , or should I graduate from the college ? And how much time does it last , 6 months , 1 year , 2 years ? And how many researches ( publications ) i have to do for a competitive specialty like neurosurgery ? And how much does it cost ? Or they paid my food , accommodation , transportation ... etc ?? And about the elective : how many electives do i have to do : for e.g. neurosurgery , do i have to take two neurosurgery electives , or one enough ? And how many letters of recommendation do i get from one elective ? And how many LORs should i get for neurosurgery ? Last section : can you please explain what's the research rotation means ? Do i get LORs from it ? Does it also counted as RESEARCH EXPERIENCE in my cv ?? I'm sorry for the long questions , i hope you'll answer it as soon as possible . Thank you very much

I have a 1 month holiday between 1st and 2nd year of medical school in Jordan. Is there anyway I can maximize this time to do something that will help me down the line for residency. I don't feel studying ahead wouldn't be such a wise idea and also don't want to waste this valuable time. What course of action do you suggest ?

"when the opportunity comes" can you tell us about the opportunity you got/an example about it? Since most often the opportunity goes before we realize it was one. Also will i get my CV boosted (even marginally) if i pass out from a very prestigious medical school of india [called AIIMS] ? I have heard many students from AIIMS get matched into residency in the USA but im not sure about the ortho branch specifically (+ the IMG ortho numbers matched/year dont look good :(( )

Dr Malike sir i have matched into my country for a 3 year orthopedic surgery residency as here we only need scores in exams. I was thinking to do it first then try usmle as usmle is a gamble and this is the best opportunity for me to at least become a specialist in my own country. What I wanted to know was that will my residency be counted as research experience and my thesis would get any value to be put on my CV 3 years later.
