Thank you Mallence for this eloquent, well-presented perspective to the challenges of development in Africa.

Mallence I only recently caught your tedtalk 2015 video in Aug 2017 when it was sent by a friend. I want to thank you for giving such a comprehensive, poised, eloquent account of the true wealth that Africa has and how this misconception of it being so impoverished, has been propagated by seemingly well to do organisations, that (as you say), spend millions on advertising to attract donations from well meaning every day people of the world, whilst at the same time, taking much of that same money in the shadows. The wisdom and intelligence that you are showing to tackle and ultimately combat deep rooted social problems (and views) one (person) project at a time, if replicated and done by other like minded individuals with integrity maintained, could make such a difference to a great many people nearest to them. Thank you for showing that not all issues have to be left in the hands of any government to fix.

byrondeslandes But it shld be govt that tackles these problems. Govt has the power of the purse, i.e, the power to tax its citizens. It and it alone has the power to comprehensively solve these problems - but not if through corruption that money is being siphoned off and swept across the ocean into the coffers of somebody else - and that’s the essence of the point this wonderful lady is trying to make.

why did they block out her comment on Barrack Obama
@mariateijmul22696 жыл бұрын
Because she said Obama born in Africa or referenced as though he was. Which was controversial in America. Because his dad was born in Kenya but Barak Obama was born in the United States or else he could not have been a candidate to run for president much less become the president

We need solutions. What are the solutions, and, who should lead? I have some solutions: Black people who have each a solution(s)must find an African country that is independent that have set an example: Its citizens are well looked after, free from corruption, clean leadership with no assets in foreign countries. A country willing to accept all black and provides citizenship, to meet there to organise and galvanized; minus media coverage. Here is the start of our own creation.
@chrisv.noire.63883 жыл бұрын
its tempting to blame Europe or 'european conquest' but thats bullshit. And this is coming from a full blood zImababwean. The white settlers arrived in the territory they called Rhodesia in 1890 and we got our independence in 1980, in that 90 years they had total dominance they built, roads, infrastructure, sewerage systems, water systems 5 major cities and installed the means of production. In 1980 we took over under Robert Mugabe and we did great for 10 years...in 1988 Mugabe abolished the office of the Prime Minister and named himself the Executive President, thereby centralizing and concentrating all governmental power into not just one office, but into one man. We discovered significant diamond deposits, not during the white colonial era..but deep into our independence and a few black oligarchs have plundered the nation to the tune of billions. To this day gold is being illegally flown out of the country on private jets by the politically well connected. Laying all our dysfunction at the feet of colonization is bullshit. Britain was a Roman colony for 500 years. Not 90 years....and it was then that the Romans literally built London. When they left the British struggled for a bit but then got their shit together and according to the global rules of that time which was 'Empire'. Yes it was not a European thing...it was a planetary thing. From Selaisee in Ethiopia, Samori Toure, Mapungubwe in southern Africa, Tshaka and Zulu empire, the Mutapa Empire in centered in the present Great Zimbabwe, Cush, Nubia, Egypt etc...Empire was the natural order of the world including the black African Moors who ruled Europe for 250 years. Life on this planet until WW2 was not a rules based existence. Each empire did what it could to expand and take over other territory...there was a time all of Europe was under the Greek Hellenists, etc...i could go on...Africa's problem??? Its our leaders that are mortgaging our assets for personal gain. Most African nations are not democracies, but oligarchies, where a handful of hyper wealthy politicians and their kids and inner circle plunder national wealth for fuck all. WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMIES. Fuck the grievance brigade that can just talk but can't start industry and employ people. Talk is cheap my German friend.
