Here i am going over how i master on the mpc live mk2 using some of these hardware boxes to prosses my sample bassed beats in the mpc. i live to use these for some quick mastering and mixing in the mc live mk2 or mpc one. i go over the oto boum and the electro harmonics platform compressor.

The Analog Heat does have a compressor, it just doesn't call it one - it has a Envelope Follower that you can link to Volume or Drive, which effectively compresses. The issue with it is there is no drive circuit after the compression, although the Saturation setting kinda gets you there sound wise

Thanks to your help I’m able to process outside of the computer. Ended up buying the platform and the analog heat + FX. Bought the analog heat + FX first and it arrived after a real bad car wreak. Thanks to your videos and the analog heat + FX I was relearning (lost all info on audio production) some things and able to master the first X7X album Phantom. Analog Heat + FX is the 🐝 Knees!!!!State of the Art Compresor with Filter Side Chain on the Bus, Dirt to the filter from the Distortions ad’s something unique that Only $5000+ compressors have. It has replace my Distressors EL8-X in Nuke mode and both distortions including the Brit Setting. LA2A compressor, you can dial it bo problem. Opto Compressor, Easy!!! It matches Elysia Karaqter and rivals Shadow Hills. And you can altered the flavor drastically by placing the compressor before or after the Analog Drive suit. Could not agree more about the 404! I legit referred to it as the Swiss Army knife of production yesterday. Especially with audio over USB and the standalone software 🔥. It’s worked it’s way into every setup I run. For the MPC Live 2 it’s more performance effects (didn’t find it so friendly resampling cause of the frequency difference). Hope eventually we’ll have the same functionality Maschine + has with the 404, resampling back and forth is seamless via usb. Great video bro! I’m picking up my analog heat soon! E.H. has that Big Muff hardware plugin pedal that looks really dope. Would love your opinion on it, it sounds ideal in concept.

I think the headphone con is really not a dealbreaker and shouldn’t be, even for headphone lovers. just plug into your Groovebox or interface. You will always combine this with other gear anyways.

This is actually a very good video, also explaining how compression works along the way, congrats! I have both the BOUM and Heat, and for me it would be hard to choose one. If the BOUM had a headhpone out it would definitely be the BOUM. Question: what were your mix settings on the BOUM? 100% or parallel ? ˙

Oh man, I’m so glad you took the time to share your input specially that you owned both of the units. For the most part I’ve been running this at 100% but there’s also times where I like to run my drums through the boom and I’ll keep that at parallel processing depending on how much I want to process those drums. I love the flexibility the boom gives us, but would really love to have had some headphones jack lol

@@Rainersherwood haha funny, small world indeed. If hooking op your gear to a computer/daw is not a problem for you i'd say just stay hybrid/in the box. It has many advantages. My main gripe was that I wanted to get away from the computer, and have small setups that I can change around whenever I want, without the need of having a computer/laptop close, just to get away from it all. in that sense the heat served a purpose being last in chain so I could plug headphones in it. However, to be fair, the disadvantage there is that if you come up with something you like, you can't quickly record it. hence, having it hooked up to a laptop/daw makes sense. and sating and decapitator are great.

Only hardware unit that packs a heavy punch versus the 404 in my personal opinion would be the “analog heat” I haven’t tried the analog heat MK2 yet but I heard is very good.

I'm curious about your thoughts on the SP-404 in this context. I mean, you're talking about mastering your tracks, compressors, drive, EQ, etc. And the MPC has it all built in, just like the SP-404. I can totally see why an Analog Heat brings something unique to the table, but would you really say that the SP-404 does? To me, it seems more like a jack of all trades sampler groovebox with 80% overlap with the MPC. What would you say it brings to the table that justifies getting it in addition to the MPC, for mastering? Or at all?

This is such a great question, and it would be a long answer for me, but to sum it up, the 404 is a must have for me since it has a unique crunchy Lo Fi sound that is hard to emulate and any other sampler box. There is certain beats that call for a unique crunchy sound, and that’s when I pull out the 404, but like I said, I don’t think it’s for every beat. I do feel like the 404 gives you such a good value for the price that is at as it’s a sequencer sampler and an FX box all together in one.

I think you're saying that the effects in the SP-404 sound better than some of the equivalents in the MPC and that that might justify running certain beats through it? My question is from the context of already owning an MPC, and to me, although the SP-404 is great value compared to other effects boxes since it also is a sampler and sequencer, I don't need that sampler and sequencer since I already have the MPC. So I'm evaluating the SP-404 purely as an effects box at that point. I guess what you're saying is that for certain types of lofi sounds, the SP-404 brings something unique to the table. And that suggests it's probably not for me. I was mostly interested in it as an effects box because it brings certain things I'd love to run my synth sounds through, like that amazing Juno chorus. But shelling out 500 usd for just that is a little excessive when the MPC has a decent Air Chorus already built in. 😊

I mix inside the mpc one then move it to a tascam dp008ex cause it has auto master 😂 I’m lazy with the time to fully master in a daw and avoid daw at all cost I need knobs,pads,keyboard but I also like that kinda raw unfinished sound at times.

I use the Zen delay (drive filter and delay) and the Platform. I don’t have a way to test the alternatives, so can’t tell if that is the best combo
