Regarding the Sidechain input: If you have the gate turned on the SC will function as a gate trigger on the moment when you send a sound to the SC. When the gate is the SC will work like.a normal sidechain; it will trigger the compression when a sound is send through the SC.

@@OoraMusic for me too. I tried it on all instruments, synths, samplers, then on the percussion/drum bus - I am running Analog Rythm and Tempest/ Machinedrum into Octatrack, and recently I have added Polyend Tracker and Play into the mix. To sum all those signals and glue them together Boum’s compressor is oddly awesome for the glue, let alone extra grit from the first distortion mode. You can also run it in parallel and get really dirty parallel compression. Ultimately, I have tried it on my entire mix, adding Boum to the aux out of my Allen&Heat - I am so stoked. I already have few compressors that on paper should do more elaborate job on the master, but I really like Boum there. Also, if you start messing about with the side - chain and filter stuff out, it’s amazing. It compensates for somewhat odd compressor and distortion on Analog Rythm and adds nicely to the Octatrack’s and Polyend’s saturation algorithms. Can’t believe one unit is doing so much versatile work, let alone its “just” a pedal - I think I will get another one to have them do multiple tasks in the live situations. Oh and I mapped MIDI controls, it is so cool to create more radical effects via cc’s and automate more aggressive distortion modes even square.

@C L S I'm in debate between the Boum and the AH, but having a bit of a hard time imagining which one will fit my 'needs' best. From what I have heard so far, the AH is a bit more 'dark / warm' sounding (less crisp) by default and the Boum is more 'crunchy' (especially without the high cut). What is your use of both the AH and the Boum?
@edwardferry82472 жыл бұрын
This was interesting, thank you. The compression sounds bad, one dial incorporating threshold, ratio etc isn’t going to provide enough definition between lows mids and highs, the frequencies get squished together. It’s a shame as it’s a great box. I imagine that’s why Elektron left off compression from its Analog Heat.
@OoraMusic2 жыл бұрын
I like the compression actually. I think is great for live use, maybe not the best in studio, but I found it super convenient!
@gradymartin8615 Жыл бұрын
Keep in might that you can use a low cut filter to filter out all the low end. Combined with the Mix dial you can get some nice parallel compression that way, it bringing more presence off the mids and highs while keeping them out of the way when the kick hit

KORG WAVESTSATE or Arturia Microfreak...? Ive got a few days to decide. The WAVESTSATE seems like a workhorse with lots of diversity. Also, which Delay for same music as you (we make same genre) strymon Time or.... or ...THIS IS DRAFT IN MIDDLE EAST BAD CELL AREA...
@Logan-sn5xk3 жыл бұрын
if you dont mind me asking, why only these two? very different price points. The Microfreak is great ofc, but comparing it to a 700 synth is a little unfair imho. In this scenario, with nothing else to go off of I would go wave state but lots of other factors matter. Like what other gear do you have? that question alone could change your answer really. You also mention "we make same genre" assuming you mean similar music to the video, the Microfreak would probably get you closer to that sound. The Wavestate is a wave sequencer, it will have a more, lets say _digital_ sound, and it sounds like you are looking for something more analog. Imo, I would look for something that suits the genre you want to make best, but that doesn't have to be the microfreak per say.

@@warbatron2 I think my noise issue arrives at the input signal.
