Maltese: The Language of Malta! (A Brief Basic Phrasebook)

In this video, I will be teaching you a couple of basic Maltese words that might come in handy, if you visit the lovely Maltese islands. The Maltese language is pretty much a hybrid of different languages, including: Arabic, Italian, English, French, etc. It is most commonly compared to Tunisian Arabic, possibly due to the geographic vicinity.

@@lilubervert7652 Malta was under Arab rule for just 200 years so the language was never fully Arabized. It's the opposite for Tunisia. You're Arabs and your language is Arabic. Get over it.

Nonsense. It's a totally different language from the two. And most Maltese words can be traced directly to Phoenician and Latin, rather than the more recent languages of Arabic and Italian.

@@marionicolasmartin That's a myth promoted by Maltese politicians decades ago to establish a strong relationship with Libya. Nearly every semitic word in Maltese can be traced back to Phoenician.
